30 Second Tip – Invest in a Spice Rack

If you love to cook, (or just have to once in awhile out of necessity), you can save yourself so much time during the process by investing in a spice rack.  My husband and I love to cook, and we use spices all the time to intensify the flavor of dishes without adding fat and calories.  And because we use so many different types of spices, there was a giant bag full of jars that we had to paw through each time in order to find the ones we wanted.  We would also end up with 2-3 half-filled jars…See More

Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I first heard about this through Dan's free podcast, which I learned about through Dave Ramsey. I'm hoping to gain access to a group of individuals who will guide me in launching my first entrepreneurial start-up and create a successful home based business.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I'm currently employed as an optometrist in a private practice setting. I'm working on my first blog and just learning how to monetize it.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I do enjoy my career as an optometrist, but I feel as if a part of me is missing. I've had to become so scientific and factual with this line of work that I feel my creative side has been all but snuffed out. When I was younger I loved reading, writing, and photography. I loved spending hours outside and taking in the beauty of the world around me and enjoying the quiet and solitude of nature. Now I spend my days in a dark little room with no windows. I don't want to leave my career, but I would like to create more balance in my life allowing time to soak up the sunlight and nurture the creative side of me.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
My husband and I are currently working on Dave Ramsey's debt snowball and I can't even imagine how wonderful it will feel when we complete that (about 2 years out right now)! We are also hoping to start a family soon which will be a whole new journey.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I'm great at organization and detail management. I come from a family of hoarders and am proud to say that I've been able to break that cycle in my personal life. I've recently started a blog with some of my best tips and inspiration to help others get more organized as well.

You have to want it!

Getting organized and staying organized, like anything in life, is a journey and it does take some effort.

But it also takes commitment and desire.

You have to want it!

Do you “want” to get organized because your family nags you to do it?  Then it’s not something that you really want and it’s likely not going to happen.

Do you “want” to get organized because you are embarrassed when people come to your home and see a mess?  Then it’s not going to be…

4 Steps to Move from Cluttered to Organized

Posted on October 22, 2016 at 1:30pm 4 Comments

I was speaking with a reader today about how sometimes getting organized can feel overwhelming.  For instance, what if instead of being just a little messy here and there, you have years of accumulated things to sort through?  Isn’t the immensity of the task just too difficult to tackle and not worth the effort to get started?

Not at all.

In fact, tackling a huge organizational project has the same steps as tackling a smaller organizational project.  It just may take a little…

30 Second Tip – Get More Done by Setting a Timer for the Task

Posted on September 27, 2016 at 5:09pm 11 Comments

You can get more done by setting a timer when working on tasks.  So how does setting a timer do this?  Wouldn’t having a timer be an impediment by forcing you to stop after the time is up?  Not all at.

By setting a timer before you start working on a task, it allows you to get more done by zeroing in your focus.  Say one of your goals for the day is to organize your closet, and you want to spend an hour working on it before you have to get to another commitment for the day.  Setting…
