Effort Equals Success

Today I tweeted that “some of the best things in life come from the effort to get past some of the worst things in life”.  Part of being able to live an organized, simplified and happy life is to learn the proper mindset to help you achieve that goal.  It is unfortunate in today’s society that we have become so accustomed to getting things immediately with no wait and no effort.  But does that ever really leave us satisfied?  Does it ever really change us deeply enough to be the person we want…See More

4 Things I Have Learned in 40 Days Without Shampoo

So it has been 40 days since I have last shampooed or used any products in my hair. (You can find out why in my original post, My Dirty Little Secret.)  I have had a few reader questions regarding this topic and figured I would give you an update on how things are going. And I will have to say, it is different and takes some getting used to, but I really am liking the results. Here are four things I have learned so…See More

Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I first heard about this through Dan's free podcast, which I learned about through Dave Ramsey. I'm hoping to gain access to a group of individuals who will guide me in launching my first entrepreneurial start-up and create a successful home based business.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I'm currently employed as an optometrist in a private practice setting. I'm working on my first blog and just learning how to monetize it.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I do enjoy my career as an optometrist, but I feel as if a part of me is missing. I've had to become so scientific and factual with this line of work that I feel my creative side has been all but snuffed out. When I was younger I loved reading, writing, and photography. I loved spending hours outside and taking in the beauty of the world around me and enjoying the quiet and solitude of nature. Now I spend my days in a dark little room with no windows. I don't want to leave my career, but I would like to create more balance in my life allowing time to soak up the sunlight and nurture the creative side of me.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
My husband and I are currently working on Dave Ramsey's debt snowball and I can't even imagine how wonderful it will feel when we complete that (about 2 years out right now)! We are also hoping to start a family soon which will be a whole new journey.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I'm great at organization and detail management. I come from a family of hoarders and am proud to say that I've been able to break that cycle in my personal life. I've recently started a blog with some of my best tips and inspiration to help others get more organized as well.

How to Regain 10 (or More!) Hours of Your Week – Every Week

Posted on July 25, 2015 at 6:02pm 6 Comments

This week’s tip is going to be a tough one for some of you and remarkably easy for others. My husband and I implemented this tip ourselves over two years ago. Initially, I didn’t think I would like it and I thought it would be tough for me, but honestly, after a week or two of changed habits, I barely missed it. So how do you recapture 10+ hours of your week, each week? Set a limit to your TV viewing time. And by TV viewing I am including cable or dish, Netflix, Amazon…
