30 Second Tip – Get More Done by Setting a Timer for the Task

You can get more done by setting a timer when working on tasks.  So how does setting a timer do this?  Wouldn’t having a timer be an impediment by forcing you to stop after the time is up?  Not all at.By setting a timer before you start working on a task, it allows you to get more done by zeroing in your focus.  Say one of your goals for the day is to organize your closet, and you want to spend an hour working on it before you have to get to another commitment for the day.  Setting the timer…See More

One Goal Each Day (#onegoaleachday)

If there’s one thing I’ve learned when trying to stay organized in my new life as a mom, it’s that there is only so much you can get done in a day when you are also trying to love, care for, and nurture an infant. But I also know the power of goals, and how setting them can help you get things done.So while I no longer can be superwoman and accomplish my entire to-do list in a few hours, I’ve learned that if I can complete at least one goal each day, I can feel both proud of myself and feel that…See More

Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I first heard about this through Dan's free podcast, which I learned about through Dave Ramsey. I'm hoping to gain access to a group of individuals who will guide me in launching my first entrepreneurial start-up and create a successful home based business.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I'm currently employed as an optometrist in a private practice setting. I'm working on my first blog and just learning how to monetize it.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I do enjoy my career as an optometrist, but I feel as if a part of me is missing. I've had to become so scientific and factual with this line of work that I feel my creative side has been all but snuffed out. When I was younger I loved reading, writing, and photography. I loved spending hours outside and taking in the beauty of the world around me and enjoying the quiet and solitude of nature. Now I spend my days in a dark little room with no windows. I don't want to leave my career, but I would like to create more balance in my life allowing time to soak up the sunlight and nurture the creative side of me.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
My husband and I are currently working on Dave Ramsey's debt snowball and I can't even imagine how wonderful it will feel when we complete that (about 2 years out right now)! We are also hoping to start a family soon which will be a whole new journey.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I'm great at organization and detail management. I come from a family of hoarders and am proud to say that I've been able to break that cycle in my personal life. I've recently started a blog with some of my best tips and inspiration to help others get more organized as well.

30 Second Tip – Stop Folding Your Underwear

Posted on August 24, 2016 at 6:17pm 2 Comments

Stop folding your underwear.

Sounds funny, right?  But think about it.  Is this really necessary??

I am meticulous about having tidy and organized closets and dresser space.  I hate when I can’t find a piece of clothing or accessory that I want to wear within the 30 seconds or so which I’ve dedicated to finding it.  And I really hate when that item looks disheveled and therefore doesn’t wear well.  So everything is neatly hung up or folded when being put away.

Except my…

What is stealing your time away?

Posted on August 9, 2016 at 7:40am 4 Comments

I know I’ve spoken before about how time is your most valuable asset.  And even though I’ve made some compelling points about that previously, here’s a new way to think about it.

Many people think their most valuable asset is money.  But that’s wrong.  You can always use your time to make more money, but having more money can never purchase you more time.  This makes time inherently more valuable than money, and therefore the most valuable asset you have.

So why let people…
