Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I have become involved with 48 days to the work you love as a facilitator at my church after reading the book and No More Mondays. I like to encourage and empower others but like very practical tools for doing so and this program really fit the bill.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I have been a school counselor in an elementary school for 17 years. I enjoy teaching and encouraging children and adults to recognize and achieve their dreams. Also, I love to write and have recently published a children's book that is useful in a counseling /elementary school setting . I am currently working on publishing additional children's books and an a devotional book for adults.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I would like to develop my talents as a speaker. At present this is my main focus as I develop a website, topics for speaking and marketing.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I have two wonderful daughters, ages 23 and 26 who are the light of my life. I try to fulfill the role of an encouraging and inspirational mom.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
optimistic and positive outlook
creative problem solver
open to learning new things
love to write and speak

Top Five Questions on Self-Publishing Your Book

Posted on April 12, 2014 at 6:30pm 3 Comments

I get a lot of questions from writers who are interested in self-publishing their book.  I've been self-publishing books since 2010 and I still remember that first year when I felt so lost and unsure of how to start and what path to follow.  Here are the top five…

Three Essentials to Achieving Your Dream!

Posted on March 21, 2014 at 7:50am 1 Comment

Do you have a dream?  I hope so!  I'm reminded of the song from one of my favorite movies, South Pacific.  The lyrics go something like this:  "You got to have a dream.  If you don't have a dream... how you gonna-have-a dream come true?"  At…

Are You Dancing Yet?

Posted on March 8, 2014 at 5:20am 2 Comments

You know that you’ve been sitting on the edge of the dance floor watching the dancers swirl around you and wishing someone would ask you to dance. Of course you don’t know how and that’s been a problem. You hoped by just watching you’d catch on but now it’s become obvious that to really learn, you’re going to have to actually take action.  You’re going to have to move past the fear and take the first step. We’ve all been there haven’t we?

Thank you for the comment and link to the blog about self publishing! I aimed it at K-2nd graders. I am planning on reching them by doing gardening projects at their schools and libraries.

Lynne,

I am starting a natural/organic farming business using only Heritage breeds of Livestock and Heirloom vegetables. A big part of my business is education for adults and children both.  I have just typed a rough draft for a children's book and needing to find out what do I do next.  I put the question on Kent's group "Write it Forward" and Kathy recommended to contact you.  Would you be willing and able to help me? Thank you and God Bless!

Hi Lynne,

How are things over in Cobb County? Have you dethawed yet? We had about 4" of snow in Flowery Branch and I loved it. God is such an artist; every snow-laden tree becomes a sculpture.

Thank you for taking the time to write and read my profile.  The answer is yes, I would love to join your group. I am going through several life transitions and would love to both contribute and receive help.

I hope you don't take a warrant out for my arrest but I am still not computer and tech savvy".  So I may need some tech help with manuvering around on the site and so forth.

I share your feelings about Dave Ramsey's F.P.U., Dan Miller's books and their related writings. I was the primary care giver for 4 sick adults from 1993 until my parent's deaths in 2005. My husband passed unexpectedly at the age of 42 from a heart attack Feb. 15, 2002. Dave Ramsey's F.P.U. helped me to have hope again and Dan's works borderline on the prophetic.

Let me know how I can help. ...look forward to hearing from you.

Blessings,

Phyllis Miller
