Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I have become involved with 48 days to the work you love as a facilitator at my church after reading the book and No More Mondays. I like to encourage and empower others but like very practical tools for doing so and this program really fit the bill.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I have been a school counselor in an elementary school for 17 years. I enjoy teaching and encouraging children and adults to recognize and achieve their dreams. Also, I love to write and have recently published a children's book that is useful in a counseling /elementary school setting . I am currently working on publishing additional children's books and an a devotional book for adults.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I would like to develop my talents as a speaker. At present this is my main focus as I develop a website, topics for speaking and marketing.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I have two wonderful daughters, ages 23 and 26 who are the light of my life. I try to fulfill the role of an encouraging and inspirational mom.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?

Two Simple Steps to Being a Writer

Posted on August 13, 2014 at 11:15am 6 Comments

I sent an email to a writer friend, encouraging him to join a critique group that I attend.  I explained that it was a group of other educators and that many of them wrote young adult fiction, an interest of his as well.  Guess what his response was? "That sounds like fun, but I'm not sure if I would have anything to offer.  I'm not a real author, and I'm really not a writer;  a real writer would write more than I do."

Last evening, I…
