Profile Information

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I've been lucky enough to be a part of this group for many years, even prior to the 212 Connection.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
Dr. David Powers is a Cultural Architect, combining the worlds of futurist, informationist, and counselor into one. Considered a human puzzlemaster, he has a penchant for assembling random bits and bytes into workable solutions. He's a best-selling author in the areas of cognitive psychology, experimental education theory, and martial arts. He's a decorated veteran of the Marine Corps, Army, and a founding member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. As a professional model and actor he has appeared in film, fashion shows, and even comic books. Married and the proud father of three feral boys and one princess that he and his wife homeschool, his mission in life is to find the magical best mug of coffee in the world.
Be sure to check him out at drdavidpowers.com.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
My goal is to create the financial freedom to enjoy life the way we want to while my 4 kids are still young.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I'm still working on climbing the Seven Summits, the highest peaks on each continent. 2 down, only 5 to go.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I am wired for organization. God said in 1Corinthians 14:40, "Let all things be done decently and in order."

Quit Telling Me I’m Fat!

Posted on November 14, 2017 at 12:24pm 0 Comments

I've been on a long journey, like many of you, with the issues of body image and fat.

For what seems like forever, people have told me I'm fat. Morbidly obese even. They did this after weighing me, checking my height, and then consulting the almighty BMI, or Body Mass Index charts.

Stupid charts.

Stupid mindless doctors.

I got tired of it and started asking other experts. It turns out that there's a lot of things that people have said was wrong with me that…

What do Professor Marston and Wonder Woman have to do with DISC Profiles?

Posted on October 12, 2017 at 11:59am 0 Comments

Professor Marston and the Wonder Women hits theaters tomorrow. It's a movie that hasn't generated a lot of buzz among typical moviegoers, but has generated a tremendous amount of interest among a few select groups, including several I belong to...

Nerds. I'm a nerd at heart. As a matter of fact, I sold my first comic book collection to pay for my undergrad schooling (I still weep over that sometimes). Professor Marston is perhaps best known as the creator of…

Strong Women Take Over the World!

Posted on September 12, 2017 at 8:44am 0 Comments

I'm in an interesting 'strong women take over the world' mode right now.

Here's what's been going on lately in the Powers household and business where the dudes outnumber the ladies 5 to 2. (Me and 4 boys plus my wife and our daughter, in case you were wondering).

Hurricane Irma just left us with a ton of rain, lots of wind, and a flooded floor. Is it just me or do hurricanes named after women seem really fierce? I got sandblasted by the winds just checking out the waves…

What Good is a Private Club if Anyone can Join?

Posted on September 5, 2017 at 8:32am 0 Comments

Groucho Marx once said, “I don’t want to belong to any club that would accept me as one of its members.”

In a similar vein, I'm not interested in joining a club that accepts EVERYONE as a member.

I've been shaving since my short hairs came in, although these days it's my head and not my face that feels the cool burn of a razor.

Trying to save some money on razors, I recently switched from the old Gillette standby to…

If You're Not Using Small Teams, You're Already Losing

Posted on September 1, 2017 at 9:47am 0 Comments

I have a keynote that I deliver at places from corporate annual meetings to small family businesses. It's called 550 Cord Teambuilding- Utilizing Small Team Tactics in Business.

I get a lot of questions about it, the most common one being, "How do I build small teams that work?"

In…

Sorry it took a while to respond to your friend request.

Who wouldn't want to be a friend with a man who has a cool beard and has his personal berserker mode!

Look forward to being in the SIF Group with you.

Hi Dr. Dave (as I've heard you called), please call me William. It's a pleasure to connect with you and I will also say I enjoyed your guest blog post last week on Dan's website. I used to be one to follow the rules, but have come to realize that making positive and dramatic shifts in one's life requires your methodology - ie: breaking many rules!

Good luck on the weight loss. My day J-O-B has created a sedentary environment where I have added 20-25 #'s in the last 2 years. Definitely want to break that habit as well as the bad habit of being an employee. ;)

Cheers!

William

Aren't we both so lucky.  Life is always exciting.

I love the imagery you used to describe yourself ... a human puzzle master.

I look forward to being part of this amazing group.  Let me know if there are any ideas you would like feedback on.

I sat next to you at the Nov. seminar. I just joined this website and wondered what you have to say about it.I love the scripture you listed regarding all things done decently and in order. It hit home with me because I know all things are in perfect and devine order so I am still waiting. I am still searching for the work I love.
