How do you lead people into trying things?

A big part of ministry is leadership. A big part of leadership is getting people to work to solve problems. Creativity is all about solving problems and in the church, we have a lot of problems. I'm curious how you go about leading change toward creative solutions. Here is a post I wrote about it:http://www.48days.net/profiles/blogs/we-tried-that?xg_source=activitySee More

The "Myth" of Natural Talent

Well, I'm back from a really nice vacation. I thought I would start this week off with a post from my upcoming book entitled "You're Not Creative... and Other Lies You Probably Believe About Creativity." This one is on the topic of natural talent. I start this post with a caveat. There is such a thing as natural talent and it is wonderful. There are some people who have a natural inborn ability to do almost everything, including virtually everything creative. There are some people who are just…See More

Are You Serious?

My son is rambling about the house trying to pack and one minor calamity after another is happening. A stubbed toe, a dropped item and after each incident, I hear the same quote, "Are you serious?" We've all been there. There are days where it just seems like things are not going your way and in the midst of it, we find ourselves asking some unknown invisible person, "Are you serious?"But of course there's another application to the quote. We look at something someone has done and we wonder are…See More

We Tried That...

Excerpted from my blog AMOKArts.com

Okay, I will admit, while I try not to get frustrated, there is one thing that will always put me over the edge. You get an idea, you present it and someone says, "We tried that..." The implication being that, "We did it. It failed. We're never doing that again." I hope people don't approach their whole lives like that.

Now I will admit, there is such a thing as knowing when to quit. Every day…

Reading the Bible

Excerpted from my blog AMOKArts.com

I have a confession to make. I love the Bible. I know, not much of a confession, and give the fact of what I do for a living, you’re probably not that surprised. I read nearly every day and rarely miss my time with the Word (usually on travel days, when I have to leave early and drive long). That being said, there was a time not too many years ago when my time in the Word was stagnate and my love for…
