Have Your Values Lost Their Grip?

If you look up the definition for values, you will find various definitions, but most center on the main principle that values are a set of guidelines and beliefs that help us make decisions in our lives.  Essentially our values guide and direct us—values help form our internal moral…

Looking for Beta Readers of my Science Fiction Novel

ARCs are almost ready!

An ARC is an Advanced Reader Copy. In days past, publishers would send out printed copies to a select group of readers to proofread and provide feedback on books before they were published. These days, though, this seems so archaic (and expensive). So, most…

Healthy Attitude: Do You Really Need to Know “Why?”

Besides being rooted and grounded in faith, I think an attitude of gratitude is most important. I found that to be very true throughout this whole healing process. Because this all came about in such an unusual, unexpected way, it could’ve been very easy to fall into that attitude of asking – “why did this happen to…

Are You Fully Alive?

On Tuesday night, I taught 3 hours of dance class.  Let me correct that:  On Tuesday night I taught 3 hours of the most amazingly enjoyable dance classes that I’ve taught since closing my own studio 2 years ago.  The students were completely engaged and they absorbed everything I gave them.  Usually during the first few weeks of class, I’m focused on setting the tone for the year and I’m a bit more subdued.  It was a rare thing for me to fully “let go” and get “out of the box”…

Take Care of Those Who Take Care of You

We are always “on”.

We live in a time where we panic if we lose sight of our cell phone for more than 30 minutes.

Facebook notifications, Instagram notifications and now Periscope notifications are popping up everywhere.

In a call with my Mastermind group yesterday, we talked about what success feels like. I was so…

What do you think of when you think of “community”?

Your town?

Your family?

Actually, if you look at the definition of community, your world gets much bigger!

Things We Should Have Been Taught As Teenagers

This week I sent my teenagers off to new schools. They were homeschooled for 6 years. I am reminded of some truths that I think should be taught in schools. What do you think?

Hard work will not always equate to success. You can put up a good fight and still lose. There are just some things that, for whatever reason, we have to carry with us.

You shouldn’t ever assume to know the truth…

Failure or Education?

I recently talked to a lady who, in tears, told me she felt like such a failure because she was in a conference and felt overwhelmed and not ready to do what was being asked of her.  I told her that IF her only take away from this conference was that she learned more about herself, what is holding her back and what she needs to do to move forward...when she is ready...the money and time spent attending was well worth it.  Dan and I have seen that over and over again.  When people come to one…

I'm a Writer, not a Writer

If you spend enough time around writers, you’ll certainly notice that they care a great deal about words, word-smithing, language, grammar, and all sorts of topics concerning “writing well.” You’ll encounter the aspiring Hemingways and Burkowskis. You know the type: always looking at every…
