Collect and sell scrap metal

Recently I was at small gathering of people to celebrate a birthday. Across the table from me was a man in our community who collects and sells scrap metal. Since I am interested in having a side gig myself, I asked him about his venture and he was quite willing to share. I learned that he drives through neighborhoods on garbage day, or the night before garbage day, to see what is out at the curb. Anything at the edge of the road is fair game. He doesn't pay for anything he takes. He looks…

Health and Nutrition: Quality not Color is What Matters

“For starters, you can’t just “cook out” the chemicals and carcinogens in conventional meat, so if the animal lived in a CAFO and received artificial hormone injections, antibiotics to stave off E. coli or Salmonella, ate genetically modified feed, was depressed it’s whole short life and was abused and possibly…

The Beauty of Being Chosen

Perhaps it goes back to your elementary school days. You’re on the playground in a big group as two “captains” begin to pick players for their kickball teams. 3 Steps to Thrive in Stressful Situations

Years ago while working on the ambulance, I had a paramedic student doing several ride outs with me.  He was about halfway through his program which means he had just enough information to be dangerous.  We responded to a call on someone having trouble breathing.  As we walked in the patient’s daughter informed us that her mom was on hospice and would be dead any day.  As she watched life slip away she panicked.  The hospice company did a poor job preparing her and she could not take things…

How Do You Define Success?

How do you define success

A few weeks ago, I posted this statement to my Facebook page and got quite a response:

“If you want to be a Naptime CEO, you cannot simply accept the world’s definition of success, you need to create your own definition of success.”
