Your place for community & resources to find or create work you love
We are so glad you're here and ready to take the next step! We created 48days.net as a place for community. For people to encourage each other and help each other in finding or creating work that is meaningful.
But frankly, we've outgrown it, so we're moving to provide you new resources.
48Days.net will be closing as it is today on November 30, 2017. Until then current members can click the button below to access groups and resources.
If you're new to 48days.net, connect here for a close up look at our thriving 48 Days Eagles Community and to get weekly free resources and motivation as you find and create work you love.

Many times I will ask people how their life would change if they inherited 10 Million dollars or so. I even have the question on my coaching application to help me gauge an individual’s motivation before I speak with…Continue
The great corrupter of public man is the ego....Looking at the mirror distracts one's attention from the problem.
We have a problem among us. It has been creeping in and taking over for a long time now. Everyone thinks that they are special. And…Continue
When all is done and you exhale your last breath, what will your imprint on the world be?
In your daily work, do you provide a service to others, or are you just looking for a paycheck?
I came across this Quaker saying - What is your life saying to the world? - while reviewing the teaching material for a career…Continue

Dealing with change. You don’t like it. I don’t like it. Nobody really likes it.
It’s a hassle. It takes you out of your comfort zone. You probably say to yourself, ”I just figured this out, now I have to change again?” Or how about “But this is the way it has always been.”
Some of us don’t resist change, we just resist being changed. After all, why would I care if you change as long it’s not affecting me? Go ahead, change all you want!
Sound familiar? I…Continue
I was updating my blog last night, kind of excited about the morning because I got to serve my church as fill-in preacher. Wanted to share some thoughts about the experience.
My goal was about 400-500 words for the blog's content. Had reached the target zone for word-count, had a nice flowing blog nearly ready to post. All that was left was to add a picture into WordPress. Grabbed just the right pic, clicked on the button to add...and there was the picture. In the top…Continue
Life Insurance: What do I need and how much?
Insurance is that thing you spend money on every month and see no results, until there is an accident! The only time we appreciate insurance is when they do what they are designed to do, protect us from risk. Insurance transfers the financial risk from you to the insurance company. Proper insurance is very important. If you do not have proper insurance you might have a huge bill that will cause you financial difficulty or even…Continue

On the biggest sports stage of every two years, thousands of athletes gather to compete internationally during the Olympics. (I'm counting both the Summer and the Winter games.)
Yes, they rejoice big time when they win, and may express their sadness (or simultaneous happiness) as their own teammates beat them in competition.
I also observe how humble most of the athletes are when members of the press push them with difficult questions or make them uncomfortable. I see them…Continue
Perhaps one of the greatest mistakes you can make as a leader is always holding the RIGHT card.
The RIGHT card “says” that since I am the highest positional leader in the situation that I am…Continue

Well, today is the big day. I've placed ads on bulletin boards, I've put up signs. I've set up a FaceBook event and invited my friends. I should have run a press release in the local paper, something I'll work on this week for future free previews and…Continue
A few weeks ago, after picking up Rachel's birthday present, we had less than an hour to get some lunch. Since it was her birthday, it was totally her choice (as if it isn't any other time). She wanted a nice sandwich so that eliminated any chain joint; not that we would go there anyway.

A few days ago my daughter told me about a young lady she just met who was trying to qualify to join the Air Force. The very next day I had a chance to meet this young woman. She and I talked for a long time, and she told me twice during the conversation, "my heart is not really into joining the Air Force".…Continue

Since I am an elementary school counselor and I'm off during the summer, I have a slightly different routine during the summer. It goes something like this:

I recently returned from Camp Steiner Scout Camp where I was without electricity, air conditioning, cell service, and indoor plumbing for three days.
And it was wonderful!
One of the Scout principles regarding campgrounds is to "leave it better than you found it."
I found in a weekend…Continue

In one of My favorite epsiodes of the Twilight Zone an old Professor has just been informed that he is no longer wanted to teach so he ponders over his life and wonders if he made a difference. He concludes sadly that his life was pointless and didn't matter. He took a walk and seen a statue with the following inscription:" Be Ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity". He becomes distraught and decides to Kill himself. The Ghosts of previous students come to tell him…Continue

I WOULD BE TRUE
I would be true, for there are those who trust me;
I would be pure,for there are those who care;
I would be strong for there is much to suffer;
I would be brave,for there is much to dare.:
I would be friend of all-- the foe, the friendless;
I would be giving and forget the…Continue
You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space. -Johnny Cash
What are you…Continue

We have heard the stories about the employee who called in sick and posted photos of himself Drunk while he was supposed to have been illl, getting fired. I decided to see what kinds of things have gotten people fired from Facebook. Many things, such as the above mentioned were expected but,it also turns out that people can be fired for content the employer doesn't like. It could be political stories or anything that shows a political leaning or expresses an opinion. I even read of one…Continue
