You Only Get the "A"

As a person who who is approaching her one-year anniversary (June 1) of being a full-time small business owner, I can tell you it's been a journey of joy. Yes, there are and have been challenges along the way, but even they pale in comparison to the freedom and fulfillment gained in pursuing my destiny.

Was I born knowing what my destiny would be? No

Do I know in totality the path my destiny will take me? No.

I just know there is something great out there for me to do in the service of others be it my family, friends, acquaintances, or strangers. As I move forward, the picture gets clearer and the pieces start to come together.

In a service some years ago the preacher said God's mathematics looks like this: A + B + C = D and God only gives you the "A".

This equation is played out beautifully in one of my favorite movies, The Last Samurai, starring Tom Cruise as Capt. Nathan Algren and Ken Watanabe as Katsumoto, the Samuari leader. In the movie the two gentleman are having a conversation that goes something like this:

Katsumoto: Can a man change his destiny?

Capt. Algren: I believe a man does what he can until his destiny is revealed to him.

This is so poweful to me. I encourage you to do what you can each day and step by step you will discover your destiny is revealed as you move forward.

Make Your Mark

Plan it. Pursue it. Possess it.

To quote the skateboard movie grind about chasing dreams they ask their leader Eric if now is when theres angels and a choir and eric rivers jumps up and says he has a plan. Those little moments are what it is about. When your preparation meets its potential. Again great post and neat insights from others

I believe as we take each step God shows us the next part of the step. That equation has proved to be very true in my life, I must way. Great post.

Dan -- To answer your question and taking from Habit 2 of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People...Begin with the End in Mind...B & C become specific things (milestones) once D is identified and a course is charted to get to it. I will say that it is very important for people to be intentional, but open and flexible to the process of getting to D. Some things may change along the way. For example, little did I know that a woman I met in April would lead to me walking on a 125-acre ranch, Spirit Reins (www.spiritreins.org), today. During my time in nature and walking amongst horses, God gave me another piece of the puzzle and that is to add a women's ministry component to OnPoint. What does this look like? Not really sure just yet, but I know that as I move forward God will give me the B & C on my way to D in regards to this new calling. In one of my favorite movies of all time - A Knight's Tale - a pivotal moment is when the lead character says "A man can change his stars."
