Life is full of choices. As we search to uncover our passion, there will be many pitstops along life's highway. Wherever you are in the process, do your best and learn all you can.
Each morning we make a choice to wake up, get out of bed, get dressed, and go to work.
Whether your work is raising children, teaching school, cleaning toilets, directing a company, or searching for a job - you have the ability to choose your attitude and the amount of effort you will invest today.
If you feel like you have little control over what happens to you at work, that's okay. You do have many other choices you can - and should - be in charge of.
You can choose what books to read, topics to study, articles to skim, and things to write. You choose what you eat, what time you go to bed, and a variety of other items.
“We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. … They offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken away from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. And there were always choices to make. Every day, every hour offered the opportunity to make a decision.” (Man’s Search for Meaning, Dr. Viktor Frankl [New York: Simon and Schuster, 1962], p. 65.)
