I've been after my wife to get rid of our land line for years. I'd point out how many of our freinds had, but that didn't seem to matter. Her defense was always something about phone reliability and 911 calls.
The logic never made any sense to me and eventually I'd drop it. However.... periodically I'd hear her complain about no one ever calls anymore, or all we get is tele marketers. I'd bring up my solution but again to no avail.
Recently she was looking up an address for someone she wanted to send a card to. No number listed. I added, probably dropped their land line along with 90% of everyone else.
Finally during the upcoming election we were flooded with phone calls. I recomended a solution and to my suprise she agreed. Savings should be $45 month.
Lesson learned, 1) be patient, ( 7 years is a long time although I recall a bible character waiting 7 years to marry the right woman, then got tricked and had to wait 7 more years. 2) Nagging doesn't help. 3) Just because everyone is else is doing it doesn't mean we have to. 4) Pick your battles. this might be the biggest, we've been married 38 years and we decide everything together. Usually she gives in much quicker.
