There has been a lot of people talking about the book, "The $100 Startup" by Chris Guillebeau. I have the book on hold at the library and I have read some of the introduction at Amazon. Several people have written blog posts and recorded podcasts to discuss it and endorse it.

From what I understand, the author is trying to say that we all have a business within us and to launch that business we don't need another degree or a bank loan. We simply need to take action and build it.

This idea is very comforting for me. I would like to start my own business. To make the decisions and to build something of my own is very appealing. I seem to be a person who could handle a business as I am dedicated, mature, and responsible.

Yet, coming up with the idea is still the challenge. I am searching my brain and asking questions but there just doesn't seem to be anything to go on. I am a process person who likes to find his groove and work it. I like to keep things neat and presentable. Except for balancing someones checkbook or organizing their office, I simply don't have any fresh ideas as to what I can uniquely offer the market place.

Maybe after actually reading the book, something will come to mind.

Keith, once we start thinking about possible business ideas, the ideas flow more naturally, and are sometimes difficult to capture! Write them down, then evaluate them later as you begin to form your plan of the work that fits you best. That's my experience.

I read the 100 Startup and it was encouraging to me as well. Keep it up, exposing yourself to ideas from books such as that one, from Dan, and others here at 48Days.net. I give encouragement...you CAN start your own business!
