Top 10 Great Writing Ideas for a Thoughtful Narrative Paper

A narrative essay is an assignment that can have an overwhelming effect on any student. There are plenty of writing ideas and cool topics, so you don’t even know what to choose. Also, your paper has to be deep and thoughtful, along with being creative and full of vivid imagery. This is quite a complicated task, but there are some good topics that traditionally have the desired effect on a reader.

Interesting Writing Ideas for Students Working on a Narrative

  1. The most disappointing day. Choose something really frustrating for you. For some reason, people love topics like that. Probably because they are relatable.
  2. A person who changed your life. Talk about how you met that person, how did your relations evolve and why did they change you.
  3. Having a sibling. That might be a tough to write if you don’t have one, so you might need some aid from a writing help service. Your essay here can take different turns and be really vivid or emotional.
  4. Being lost. This can be taken differently. You might write about being lost physically or spiritually or even emotionally.
  5. Tough situation that is worth going through.Sometimes you encounter something bad or tough. But in the end that encounter turns out really important.
  6. Taking a stand. It’s always an interesting thing to read. This essay can be really passionate and powerful. It might be about some you care for, views or a random situation.
  7. The end of a friendship. This is a painful experience, but people know how it feels. Most likely your audience will remember a situation of their own.
  8. Being a good example for someone. If you have a sibling, you probably know how it feels.
  9. A random touching situation. Talk about a stray cat that you’ve seen or a homeless person.
  10. Being at home alone. This can be funny or kind of tragic, depending on a person. Certainly, if you celebrate Christmas alone it would be kind sad.

3 Tips That Will Help You Choose a Good Topic

  1. Think of your interests and background. You have to be passionate about your topic, that is true. But you also have to have some experience to write about something. If you’re writing about a lovely family vacation and you’ve never been on one, your paper won’t be real and personal.
  2. Don’t go with something too personal. Not everyone would be comfortable reading about the deepest and most personal topics that you have. If you have a really bad experience with loss or grief, that would make a powerful essay, but it’s better to choose something less striking. You have to keep your head cool.
  3. Consider your audience. When you’re choosing you writing idea make sure that you consider not just your own interest, but also your readers. Try to remind yourself who your readers are and what are their daily worries. Using those you can make your essay much more powerful.

Always choose a topic wisely and try to make your paper good. Even if you are used to ask experts 'write my papers', take care. There is no need to go for perfection. A narrative paper is always really personal and it’s about you and your own experiences. This is why it would be better if you go with your gut feeling and write as you can.

Really great suggestions, Joe! I just wrote about #5 this week. Saved this list to evernote for future reference. Thanks!
