Today I had an opportunity to tackle a decluttering project that’s been on my list for awhile – my entryway coat closet. Now, one of my weaknesses as a girl is accessorizing. But I don’t do it with jewelry, I do it with shoes, bags, coats, and scarves, and so I unfortunately have a tendency to keep a few too many of these items. And as my accessory count rises, my closet space does not, so over time it gets more cluttered and disorganized. As we are transitioning from winter to spring, I needed to reevaluate what I had and get the items I would need for the next season to the front and ready to go.
Now, normally when decluttering, I consider it a win if I’ve gotten rid of a significant amount of whatever I was going through. However, today when I went through my coat closet, I only got rid of 4 items out of about 60 that were in the closet. That’s only a 6% reduction, which to me doesn’t feel like much. However, I’m still counting today as a decluttering “win”, and here’s why.
