Your place for community & resources to find or create work you love

We are so glad you're here and ready to take the next step! We created 48days.net as a place for community. For people to encourage each other and help each other in finding or creating work that is meaningful.

But frankly, we've outgrown it, so we're moving to provide you new resources.

48Days.net will be closing as it is today on November 30, 2017. Until then current members can click the button below to access groups and resources.

If you're new to 48days.net, connect here for a close up look at our thriving 48 Days Eagles Community and to get weekly free resources and motivation as you find and create work you love.

All my possessions for a moment of time.

Queen Elizabeth I (1533 - 1603)
You have such huge  dreams. You can see exactly where you would like to be in this life. And, for all of your dreams and hopes, you are in the exact same place today that you were yesterday.

Why? Because you are wasting the absolutely most precious commodity that there is. Time. You can never make more of it, and you can never get it back. It is constantly fleeting, so much so, that even this moment is forever gone. Time is available to everyone, but very few make the best use of it. What does everyone else do?

They stay in their rut, and don’t do anything new. They are far too busy, and have no time to pursue what is important. They waste time in fantastically empty pursuits. They say their bored, and wish for something more, but do nothing to change. All the while, time is slipping by, never to return.

What about you? How are you doing with this? Oh, by the way. This isn’t just about better time management at work, though that is an important part of things. The pursuit of success and a better way of life isn’t the only place you waste time.

How is your family doing? Have you spent good time with your wife, husband, kids, parents? Do you have good friendships, even three people who really know you? How about yourself. Have you learned anything new in your life? That instrument you want to play? How about learning Italian for that big trip that you will take “someday”? Is your life just flying past, and are you just standing there watching it go by?

It doesn’t have to be this way any more. You can really do something about it. Also, this doesn’t have to be a sudden and overwhelming change that will wear you out. This is your life we are talking about. It can be better than it is right now. If you really want it to.

  • You need to decide that you actually want it to be different. Most people are so comfortable with where they are that they will never do anything different. You can stop wasting your time if you make it a priority. This is a big decision, because you can change your life.
  • What do you want? Really! Don’t make a ridiculous list that will get you depressed. Write down three things you would like to spend your time on. They don’t even have to be big. Just things you really want to do in your life, that you aren’t doing now. Start a business? Lose weight? Learn to dance. Actually see your loved ones? Find better friends? Whatever it is, it needs to be important to you! It can even be something you are supposed to be doing now, but you never actually get to it.
  • Quit letting yourself be on Facebook, Twitter, doing endless internet searches, watching TV for thirty-seven hours a week (that’s America’s average right now), or anything else without limits. I’m not telling you to just stop doing all these things, just don’t let it consume all of your time. Pick out at least two hours a day, and pursue what is important to you.

We get one dance in this life. When they are throwing dirt on you, will they be remembering how beautiful your dance was? What will you do with the time you have left?

The clock is ticking.

Thank you Leslie. this is a hot topic issue, because we can all fall into this trap. Making the decision to be proactive with your time AND acting on it separates us from the talkers to being the doers.
