Recently, I was listening to an interview with Jillian Michaels, trainer from the “The Biggest Loser”. She made a profound statement; “the concept of weight loss is simple, burn more calories than you consume and you will lose weight. The reason I am successful is that it is not easy and people need help dealing with the mental and physical issues of weight loss”.

I know what she means first hand. As I write this, I have lost twenty five pounds. I don’t always feel like working out, but I love the way it makes me feel, the energy it gives me and the weight loss results that it provides.

The concepts I discuss in successful selling are very simple. However, based on our individual personality and past experience, some of the steps may be difficult and go against out nature. For example, my personality
is outgoing and gregarious and I enjoy meeting new people. I am also very talkative and that can be a problem especially when I teach that you must talk 30% and allow your prospect to talk 70% of the time.

Why don’t I just talk all I want and show the customer what an expert I am? Why should I suppress my nature to say what I want? It is Simple…because it does not get the results I want. It’s a simple concept…not
always easy to apply.

Some of the most memorable successes you will have in your life will come from learning new skills, pushing yourself and overcoming. Will you be willing to change in order to get the results you want?

Can you think of any task or process where this principle would apply? I would love to hear from you.

Have a great week!

I have needed to give my products more exposure and the only way I could do that was to leave my comfort zone, ie my house.  I have never been able to do speeches or presentations comfortably, but I forced myself to do this and it has paid off. Not just financially, I am growing into a better person and building relationships with people I probably would not have done so with before now. Now I understand that my prejudices were causing me to miss out on some wonderful friendships.

I plan to step it up a notch as we enter weight loss season and even go further and reach out to cold contacts and people in higher levels of success than myself. I recently learned that sometimes doctors, lawyers and professionals become involved in relationship sales is nothing more than the simple fact that "someone asked them to".

I remember learning how to ice skate backwards. Mr. Harmon showed me how to turn around on ice skates on a pond behind our house. I turned, and fell. Then I got up. I started skating, turned, and fell again. I kept at it, and finally I got it! The next try, I fell again. But as I kept practicing, I got so good at it I could turn and skate backwards with a hockey stick, steal the puck from an opponent, make a pass, then stop and skate forward.
I just ate about 5 cookies, so I'd better go skating. haha Thanks for reminding me Pierce. Congrats on the 25 lbs!
