Open the ‘Box’ to your Child’s Potential

All parents want the best for their families. However, with the best of intentions, sometimes mothers and fathers accidentally judge the “worthiness” of their children’s gifts based on the rules and beliefs that were instilled in them.

In today’s short clip, I mention a mom I worked with on the west coast and how she fought the urge to get in the way.

Today’s reflection: If no one were around to tell your kids what they could or couldn’t do or become, what are some of the possibilities?

Love this Joel! Guiding your child to achieve his/ her true potential is good parenting. And for me, the best way to help them realize their full potential is to first build their self-esteem so they can develop into confident, successful individuals. Doing this, we allow them to believe and never doubt possibilities. It is pretty amazing to see them work within their strengths. BTW - LOVED the most recent blog podcast with you and Pei talking about this subject.

That's one of the hardest aspects of parenting-- fighting the urge to "guide" the kid while making sure one doesn't cap that creativity and the unique gifts within the child.  (P.S., I'm getting better at lipreading you! )
