Mrs. T Has A Lover

Mrs. T has a secret lover.  I might not should be writing about him, but I feel it is a good story.  A writer is always on the lookout for a good story.

Mrs. T is one of my best friends.  She is well into her 80’s, but she acts and thinks like she is 27.  We have a great time together, and she makes me a better person.  However, I say with a sigh, her secret lover has caused me to pause and question a few things.

This lover arrives at her home only seasonally.  It seems he is employed during the summer months.  Well, at least he has a job!  The fall and winter months, however, find him in need of a safe refuge, some food, and – shall I say it – companionship.  Oh, that’s a good word for it.

Mrs. T’s secret lover has shown up this year, and she just beams when she talks of him.  His arrival and antics are always part of her conversation.  I just smile and wonder, “who would allow a green slimy FROG to take residence inside their house every year?”

Yes, a FROG!  This same silly frog has found its way into one of her houseplants.  The houseplant lives in the courtyard during the spring and summer, but it lives in the house during the fall and winter.  This will make the third year the frog has stuck around so as to be delivered into the house nested safely in the dirt of the houseplant.

Mrs. T discovered him this week perched on the edge of her powder room toilet just before he jumped in for a swim.  “Oh you precious little fellow.  It is so good to see you again,” she exclaimed.  It all makes me worry about her a wee bit.  But, hey!  Whatever floats your boat!  Come back next week and Listen To My Brain Rattle!
