The Lone Ranger and Tonto are camping in the desert, set up their tent, and are asleep. Some hours later, The Lone Ranger wakes his faithful friend.

"Tonto, look up and tell me what you see."
Tonto replies, "Me see millions of stars."
"What does that tell you?" asks The Lone Ranger.
Tonto ponders for a minute.
"Astronomically speaking, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets.
Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo.
Time wise, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three.
Theologically, it's evident the Lord is all powerful and we are small and insignificant.
Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow.
What it tell you, Kemo Sabi?"
The Lone Ranger is silent for a moment, then speaks.
"Tonto, you Dumb Hoss, someone has stolen our tent."

BOOM! It hit me like a ton of bricks. It was so obvious, that I had no choice but to smile at the blinders that had been covering my eyes for the last year or so...

One of my personal goals is to run my own business. This used to be something that was one of those "someday" type of things. But as time has progressed it has reached a peak which I can no longer push aside. I notifed my current employer about 3 months ago that I would not be returning after August (as my contract ends at this time). I am choosing instead to move full time into writing, blogging, training in martial arts, and finding a way to generate income combining all of this.

That being said, I`m not quite sure how I am going to make this happen. It is pretty obvious that I need to gain some insights into moving towards entrepenurialism. This is where I come back to the "BOOM!" moment.

2 months ago I was walking and thinking to myself: "It would be great, if I could meet someone who had experience running their own business, had years and years of experience, that understood me," I began to think "Where can I find someone like this?" and then it all struck me like I ate too much wasabe with my sushi...

I know the perfect entrepreneur. He has run his own business for close to 40 years. He`s full of energy, optimism, and excitement! This dude is such an entrepreneur that his idea of "retirement" consists of growing olive trees in the country, making olive oil, and selling it. His current business ventures range from changing the local schools physical education system to helping the local Indian reservation develop a product line...

It`s my father... And here I was looking for a mentor and it was as obvious as the white on rice.

I now look back upon it and it seems so obvious to me. Especially after sitting down with my father and having him coach me through this process. Yet, for a long time it never even occurred to me. I think there are many times in our lives when what we are looking for is right in front of us.

We often make life much harder as we search up, down, around, behind, and underneath... but we forget to look right infront.

Are there any changes you want to make in your life? Are you searching for the answer? How are you searching for the answer? Are there things that are in your life everyday that might just be the answer?

Gary,

Thank you for the support. I am really excited and passionate about merging these ideas. I am hoping it can help inspire others to move forward with their passion and dreams as well. Time shall tell.

Rob,
Thank you for the kind words. I couldn't agree with you more about your comment  "We tend to seek greener grass in some far off land, but in the end we usually find (if we open our eyes), that the greener grass has been right in front of us all along". It just blows my mind that this is so often the case.

Excellent post Izmael! What you experienced with recognizing that about your father is far to common with many of us. We tend to seek greener grass in some far off land, but in the end we usually find (if we open our eyes), that the greener grass has been right in front of us all along. Wishing you lots of success in building your business. I think you have a great idea to combine those three arts into a meaningful brand that you can launch...

Izmael, what a great post! I'm most excited to see what comes of your "martial arts, blogging, and writing" stew. What a cool idea to combined them all. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens as all your passions merge. One thing I know, it will be great!

Haha! Isn't it funny how it works out like that? I guess it deals with the simple truth that it often really is under our noses.

Thanks for the positive feedback Nate. I really appreciate it.
