As my life continues to get busier and I attempt to take on more projects, I’ve been trying to figure out how to fit it all into the 168 hours we have each week to work with.  Here’s a little math to break down each approximate week:

Sleep: 56 hours

Work: 45 hours

Commute: 3 hours

Meals/Cooking:  21 hours

Getting “Ready”:  7 hours

Exercise:  4 hours

Cleaning:  2 hours

Those are the “absolutes” that cannot be cut from my life.  So far we have a total of 135, which leaves me with 33 “flexible” hours per week.  That average to 4.7 hours per day.  Now granted...

Lesley - great post - I like how you broke it down and then intentionally began scheduling not only the absolute have to's but the flexible hours as well!  I would agree - for me it's the same - and I think those flexible hours are not usually in big chunks so they seem to evaporate all too quickly.  You are right - time is not something we have any control over - but we can manage ourselves.  Great reminder for me!
