As my life continues to get busier and I attempt to take on more projects, I’ve been trying to figure out how to fit it all into the 168 hours we have each week to work with. Here’s a little math to break down each approximate week:
Sleep: 56 hours
Work: 45 hours
Commute: 3 hours
Meals/Cooking: 21 hours
Getting “Ready”: 7 hours
Exercise: 4 hours
Cleaning: 2 hours
Those are the “absolutes” that cannot be cut from my life. So far we have a total of 135, which leaves me with 33 “flexible” hours per week. That average to 4.7 hours per day. Now granted...

Comment by Ann Musico on September 27, 2012 at 12:24pm Lesley - great post - I like how you broke it down and then intentionally began scheduling not only the absolute have to's but the flexible hours as well! I would agree - for me it's the same - and I think those flexible hours are not usually in big chunks so they seem to evaporate all too quickly. You are right - time is not something we have any control over - but we can manage ourselves. Great reminder for me!
