What will become of our medical systems and our patients as financial burdens continue to plaque our healthcare community?
The American Medical Association (AMA) reports that "The aging of America will likely lead to an unavoidable burden on the health care system. As a result, physicians will need to address issues pertaining to health care financing and delivery, with particular emphasis on cost, resources, services and physician role in long-term and end-of-life care."
Healthcare systems, medical manufactures/device companies, and the medical community will continue to face financial hurdles as legislative changes continue to evolve. In addition patients will continue to face financial burdens that medical expenses carry (medical expenses are the #1 cause of bankruptcy).
"Medical problems caused 62% of all personal bankruptcies filed in the U.S. in 2007, according to a study by Harvard researchers. And in a finding that surprised even the researchers, 78% of those filers had medical insurance at the start of their illness, including 60.3% who had private coverage, not Medicare or Medicaid." ~Bloomberg Business Week
Medical Providers - How can our medical industry continue to thrive? Will our quality of care need to be balanced with the costs of care?
As a mom of a son with a chronic lifetime expensive condition, I am VERY interested in how our healthcare will evolve over these next few years. Will my family's care be compromised due to much needed changes that will take place in our medical system? I hope not and will do what I can to help both families dealing with medical issues and our healthcare providers out.
In fact, I am so interested in the well-being of our medical system that I am dedicating my passion to giving hope and inspiration to those that are serving our medical community and those who have experienced medical financial burdens as our family has.
Patients - I would be delighted to share what resources have helped our family and/or resources I recommend. Please click HERE to visit our resource page under our finance section on how to become financial empowered.
Question – What actions can you take TODAY to help out the financial health of either someone you know or for yourself that has been affected by medical expenses?
