I began this year with several goals. Having worked on the content for Michael Hyatt's 5 Days to Your Best Year Ever, I'm very familiar with the importance of clearly defined goals in several areas of life. I also like to see things checked off my to-do list. I think I learned that from my wife.
For the last several months, I've had the idea to start a podcast. I wasn't sure about the details, but I know the value I place on podcasts. I subscribe to several and listen when working out or driving long distances. I found a few podcasts that focus on creating online courses, but most of them were more like infomercials for the host's products. There wasn't a lot of real content available. So, I decided to begin 2017 by launching The Course Clinic Podcast.
People consume content in a variety of ways. Some people read books, others listen to them. Some people prefer blogs while others like podcasts. By not offering a podcast, I was missing a huge potential audience. I also realize there is a tremendous lack of content in this genre. So, I decided now was the time to launch. Here are a few things to know about my podcast…
It's not perfect. I'm pretty busy, so I didn't agonize over the production quality of the first episode. It will get better over time.
It is a work in progress. The format is much like that of my friend, Dan Miller's, podcast. I will spend a majority of the time answering questions from people like you. If you have a question, submit it to the email address provided in the podcast.
It's not long. I have a 15-minute rule when it comes to online learning lessons. I applied that same rule to the podcast. The first episode is about 16 minutes long. I tend to think in 15-minute segments, so that was the easiest way for me to approach it. CLICK THE IMAGE TO ACCESS THE PODCAST IN ITUNES.
First, send me any questions you have about courses, content, educational resources (workbooks, ebooks, PDFs, etc.). I'll try to address as many as possible in the podcast.
Second, share the podcast with those you think might benefit. If you know an entrepreneur, business owner, educational professional, and so forth, encourage them to give it a try.
Third, subscribe and rate the podcast. If it isn't already available, The Course Clinic Podcast will be available on iTunes very shortly.
Fourth, give me feedback. Is there something you'd like me to cover? Do you have an idea that would make the podcast better?
This year is going to be my best year ever because I have some aggressive, but achievable goals in place. Let me encourage you to do the same. Rather than letting 2017 become a repeat of 2016, why not reconsider your future. Where do you want to be at the end of this year? What do you plan to learn? How will you make a difference?
Our brains are lazy. They prefer mindless repetition over intellectual challenges. You can rise to the top of your field by simply setting and pursuing challenging goals. This year can be your best year ever or it can be 2016 part 2. It's your choice.
