What’s Scarier? Fear or Regret?
A wise man once said, “Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do, than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
This week, you will be faced with decisions. Should I go to that meeting? Should I go to the gym? Should I throw a dinner party? Should I put my bonus check in savings? Should I look for a new job?
With each decision, ask yourself, what will I regret not doing?
It’s easier today to stay in your miserable job. It’s easier to skip your workout or that party. But what is the implication 20 years from now? Starting this blog was not easy. In fact, putting yourself out there is quite scary. But when I asked myself what I will I regret not doing, I knew I had to move forward.
Here we go. Sailing away from safe harbor. Let’s not forget to enjoy the journey.
How does asking this question change the way you look at the decisions you are faced with? What is one dream that you will commit to pursuing this week?
