On June 1, I reached a major business milestone -- my one-year anniversary as a full-time entrepreneur. I wish I could say it has all gone smoothly, but just like the ebb and flow of the ocean's tide, so goes business (and life for that matter). Right now, I'm in the ebb and it's not a comfortable place to be. The ebb is where things slow down, they move backward, and forward momentum seems to be lost.

In the ebb it's easy to doubt and second guess yourself. Personally, I'm full of ideas, but which one do I work on now? Who will need and value the services I offer and pay accordingly? Should I go back to working full-time and do the business on the side? These questions and more I've asked myself. I don't like being in the ebb, but I do understand it's a natural part of the process.

So while I am in the ebb, I expect and prepare for the flow. For certain it's coming and I must be ready with greater clarity and with new products, services, and processes if I want to capitalize on the forward push and cover new ground and serve more people.

Why am I sharing this? Because I believe there are others who are experiencing and feeling the same things and may want to throw in the towel. You may be one of these people. Don't throw in the towel, but recognize you are in the natural process of ebb and flow. Become fluid like water, able to adjust and adapt to the environment and before you know it, your ebb will become flow again.

Alicia and Rochelle,

Your honest insight into having fears and doubts creep in are refreshing. I am on the verge of building my platform to going from the corporate world into the entrepreneur world. I am saving this blog post in my notes to reference back to on the days that surely will come that some bumps come my ways as well.

Best of luck to you both!!!

Live Beyond Awesome!

Hi Rochelle,

Keep plugging away and if you find you need to make a temporary adjustment for a season so that you have time to regroup, believe me it's alright. You are an entrepreneur whether it's full-time or part-time.

Hi Alicia

I am right at the 5 month mark in my business and am right there with you in the ebb process.  Have been starting to doubt my decision and get discouraged.   Have even bee wondering if I should do something else.  Same type questions you are asking yourself.  Thanks for sharing.  I needed the encouragement.  I do love what I will make the necessary adjustments and adaptations and keep on pushing through.
