Decluttering – Personal vs. Common Space

When you are just beginning your decluttering process, it can be overwhelming to decide where to start first.  What’s most important?  Common spaces where everyone gathers and contributes to the mess?  Places that guests see?  The overflowing pile of papers in your office that distracts you from the work you need to be getting done?  Or the heaps of clothes and toiletries in your bathroom and closet?

Wonderful wisdom here and common sense. I like the idea of separate areas each person can maintain as they wish. It is similar to when my kids lived at home and allowing them to keep their rooms the way they preferred. It is much easier to just close a door than to constantly be nagging! It’s exhausting and frustrating.
