We are so glad you're here and ready to take the next step! We created 48days.net as a place for community. For people to encourage each other and help each other in finding or creating work that is meaningful.

But frankly, we've outgrown it, so we're moving to provide you new resources.

48Days.net will be closing as it is today on November 30, 2017. Until then current members can click the button below to access groups and resources.

Are You Still Sitting On Your Beach Chair?

I need to explain something to you very carefully. If I look back in time, and compare my way of life and standard of living to others around me, it was pretty close. Whether I intended that to happen or not, it’s what seemed to naturally unfold. Yes, I have been own person – or at least I’ve always thought I was – but then why do I have so many similar traits of those I hang around most?

It’s a social response, and conditioning. Depending on how self contained you are, will depend on the magnitude of that social response during a given time period. But it’s natural, we tend to open up, intertwine, and blend with the ones that we associate with. We have similar styles, we make similar income, similar habits, and enjoy similar things.

We create others to be what we want, while at the same time, others are creating you to be what they want. And we do this unconsciously, but having that similarity allows us to be open and comfortable around each other.

This is not a bad thing at all. We are social beings, and we enjoy comfortable company, but in case you were not aware, there is enormous power in this simple idea. It all goes back to your power to choose.

People tend to want more out of life than what’s been given to them. They want this and they want that. They want a better life, more income, a bigger house, financial and overall life success, but yet they continue to live the same habits, and do the same things over and over. They are wanting, but are drifting though life and don’t even know it.

You have the power right now in your hands to be intentional about what’s next in your life! If you want to start living the good life, do you think it would behoove you to start seeking out people who are living the good life, and surround yourself with that world? It’s easy to point at success, or something that you haven’t achieved and say it’s not fair. Why not instead, look at success, and start living it, and being amongst it.

When you decide to live a certain way, and involve yourself with certain people; when you start to be intentional about your own greatness, great things will begin to happen. Great things are happening right now in front of you, even just from reading these words. All you have to do is see it, believe it, and do it!

Most millionaires in America are self made. Do you think they sat on their beach chairs with everyone who thought the water was too cold, or did they jump in with everyone who thought the water was just right!

You're so welcome, Jan! and thanks for the comments. Your feedback is right on. Success breed success, and until we can humble ourselves enough to accept that we need the growth, wisdom, and experience of other people to learn and leverage growth, wisdom, and experience in our own lives then we block the path of success's continual flow. It does take that individual maturity to recognize this.

Wow, Rob - great post!  I especially love this quote in the end by Jim Rohn.  I believe success breeds success and we should seek out those who we would like to emulate or learn from. I think it takes a certain amount of maturity on an individual's part in order to do so.  There are so many people who are 'keeping up with the Jones'' that they are not living their authentic life.

Thanks for sharing this insight!
