I don’t know how it began, but one day I found myself saying, “Lord, I receive your love today.” It felt good. I pictured soaking up rays of Son-shine and felt my body relax. God is love and loves us all the time, yet sometimes we don’t receive His love. That made me wonder what other blessings am I missing because I don’t receive them. And why don’t I receive them?

Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, or we might say He’s the whole alphabet. Just as our alphabet supplies every letter I need to write this, Jesus provides all I need to live well. Psalm 23:1 says that because the Lord is my shepherd, I have everything I need—not most of what I need.

Do you believe you have everything you need? Is there something you feel you are lacking? Those feelings are opportunities to look to our Lord and receive. [click to continue…]

Truly inspirational! Thank you for this nice article you wrote Deborah! Let us be contented with what we have. If God doesn't answer our prayers, rest assured He has prepared something much better. Everything happens for a reason and God doesn't give us problem/s that we can't solve. Have faith in Him and everything will work out just fine.

Hi Deborah! Thanks for remind us that our Lord is our Shepherd, I need to receive more from our God.

I agree, Deborah.  Certain things are very easy for me to believe for and to receive and others, not so much.  But those are usually the areas I need to trust God in the most.

Interesting thought about how our personalities play into a willingness to receive. I think there are certain things I'm more willing to receive. Maybe I feel I should be able to completely control other things—or want to.

Receive seems such a simple thing - passive almost.  But it is really more active - we have to intentionally open our hearts and minds to receive what the Lord has already so graciously provided and is freely offering to us.  I think depending on our personalities, that is easier for some than for others, but it is definitely something we can all do and must determine to do.  He has told us He has already given us everything we need for life and godliness - all that remains is to ask and receive.  Beautiful post
