Very eye-opening.  I never knew all these facts about Abe.  Keeps things in perspective.

I have heard this about Abraham Lincoln, but it is a great reminder.  I have definitely been kicked in the teeth in my life and particularly these last 4 years.  I have also had amazing opportunities for learning and growth come my way.  But pain and setbacks are not reasonable excuses for giving up.  If anything, you have more incentive to keep going, if for no other reason than morbid curiosity over how the story ends!  : )

Wow - I have read about Abraham Lincoln but the way you have expressed this is so very powerful and inspiring!  You are absolutely right - we have to get a proper perspective and realize - if he could come through it all and accomplish what he did - so can we.  Great post.
