Recently I attended a conference where we had the chance to socialize with people and talk about our goals and where we wanted to go. One of the persons in our group mentioned she was struggling with being overwhelmed with accomplishing anything. She was just too busy and was depressed that her life wasn't going in the direction she wanted it to so she continued in the same pattern each day.
After she spoke up, others around her voiced the same concerns. They felt so overwhelmed in their family and career life that they couldn't see themselves moving forward even though they very much wanted to.
Here were some action steps I suggested she take.
Does this really work?
As simple as it sounds, yes it really does work.
Why?
By breaking your overwelming goals and tasks down into simple small steps, it becomes easier to grasp. While looking at a mountain to climb is necessary to see where you are going, remember that the step that counts today is the step that is in front of you.
Question: What is the ONE small step you can take today to get you to your goals?
Live Beyond Awesome.

oh I like the "pre-digest" of goals description Ann! Good reminder to celebrate and time to reboot.
Thanks Ann!!!

Comment by Ann Musico on October 19, 2012 at 9:19am Jen great, practical, logical and doable steps! What you actually did for this person is to show her how to kind of "pre-digest" her goals - break them down so her mind could "digest" and assimilate them and actually make progress. And I agree from personal experience - it is very easy to become overwhelmed - it's happened to me many times, recently, in fact. I would also suggest that once she begins moving through your 6 step process she celebrate each small step because they all add up to progress and be sure to take time to reboot - get away from the process now and then and just relax and let yourself be. As always, great post.
