And, while they may have since made peace with themselves, their Creator, and sometimes, even those they’ve wronged, communities have a tendency to shun and look down upon these ladies because they served time.

When you add to the rejection the big challenges ex-offenders face: employment, housing, finances and health, it becomes easy to understand, how the rehabilitated-journey, can be a hard-fought one.

Founder and executive director of Leaving the Cocoon, Vicki Harvey-Helgesen, joins us on the show and shares the love and compassion she feels toward ex-offenders and lays out the ideas and plans that will help lead them to a brighter tomorrow.
