It is easy to get so caught up in one area of our life that we neglect other important areas of our life that contributes to our well-being. I know for me, I have always considered myself a “career” person. I have enjoyed the various occupations that I have had along the way and growing in them. With that said, over the years, I have had to learn to be very conscientious to not neglect other areas of my life. When I’m working, I tend to get real focused and can easily find that time has slipped away from me. Instead of leaving the office at a decent time when involved in a project, I would not pay attention to the time and before you know it, I would get home too late and not feel like fixing something proper to eat or fit in exercise. And, I would not spend enough time I needed with family and friends because when I did have free time, I just wanted to rest and recuperate.
Thankfully, over the years, I have learned to watch the time and “stop” when I need to so I can spend time investing in other areas of my life. I believe that we need to invest in all areas of our life to truly have a fulfilled life and to take care of ourselves so that we can have the energy and health we need for the long haul to do the things that are important to us. When I speak of health, I do not only mean physical health. I’m talking physically, emotionally, spiritually, socially, financially, etc. There are a variety of life areas that you need to keep in check and spend quality time. When we do not take the time to make deposits in one area, it will affect another area of your life.
Are you spending too much time in one area while neglecting another?
All my best,
