I'm Doing what I'm Fearing and the Fearing is Disappearing!

Continue Reading HereI shared this a while back but it seemed appropriate to facing challenges everyday.

Since I was a little kid I have been able to Swim; at least a loose definition of the word. I could tread water, play in lakes, rivers, the ocean and swimming pools with little difficulty. Racing across a pool was fun because I often won and didn’t have…

Just wanted to share--a Philly Cheese Steak

Hi there, sometimes I hesitate posting my food articles here thinking that everyone has enough going on; especially since most of them are right in the Salt Lake City area where only a few 48 Days members live.

But I love it, this lights me up and is the reason I got involved in the first…

Unplugged: Running away to find Peace!

For years now, when my wife has inquired about going camping, I told her that we didn’t develop and progress in society so that we could return to living like cavemen. We all grow up and mature however and now that I am 36, I hope she has forgiven me and that a recent camping trip renewed her faith in…

My Morning Started with Fear, so I Fed It!

Yes, that is correct, I did have fear today! Last evening turned into a late night at a baseball game and the morning started early. My daughter was also tired, didn't get enough sleep and decided to be very difficult this morning. I was losing steam fast.

On top of that I have an article…

Ribs and Pulled Pork anyone?

Hello, Last week I wrote a Blog Post titled "I had a Second Child and Got Depressed." Thank you for the kind comments. It is so much fun to reconnect. I feel like somebody who has been thirsty, didn't realize it and just found a cool mountain spring again.

Just wanted to add another cool thing that has happened…

I had a Second Child and Got Depressed!

In addition to "where have you been?" I have also heard "I haven't seen much from you lately" and "Are you still doing food reviews?" In the book that I am writing, I share the experience of getting a call from a restaurant regarding a review that I had posted. Honestly, I didn't even know how many people were following the blog--analytics were never my strong suit. Lately I have heard from people wondering where I have been.

In 2011, I started the blog as an online journal. In that…

Disruption, Anxiety and ultimate Surrender. Let's sit down for a meal!

Hello, Where have I been a few of you have asked? My answer is that I thought that I was pretty good at basic math but now I doubt that. What I mean is back in November we had baby #2, a sweet little boy. Up until that point, our routines were set. I scheduled time for writing, my…

Sharing Enthusiasm: Invited to Breakfast and Lunch

Hello, For anyone that has followed what I do, I am a Food Writer. It is so much fun to visit restaurants and enjoy their delicious cuisines. Most of my vacations are based on finding food, with little else on the agenda. That drives some people nuts but I love it. Just last night my…

Another article with more on the way!

I had the privilege of writing an article for City Weekly on one of the Best Burgers in the area.

http://www.cityweekly.net/utah/article-472-18214-lucky-13-burgers.html

This same publication invited me to do some Holiday food writing for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I have been spending a little time each day working on my dream.

Sincerely,

Jeff

I'm Doing what I'm Fearing and the Fearing is Disappearing

Since I was a little kid I have been able to Swim; at least a loose definition of the word. I could tread water, play in lakes, rivers, the ocean and swimming pools with little difficulty. Racing across a pool was fun because I often won and didn't have to worry much about technique during short bursts.

However, There is one aspect of swimming that has bothered me for a while; That is the inability to swim any distance of note. I would kick my way, breath my way (which entailed…

Gourmet Hot Dog Restaurant for a local publication. Those Dogs were amazing.

I am so grateful for the doors which open when we "get in the game."

Another Article: Alice's Kitchen, off-the-beaten-path

Some of the best food is the off-the-beaten-path comfort food. Alice’s Kitchen in North Salt Lake is just that. You wouldn’t have any idea it was there unless someone guided you in.

What a fun experience to write about Alice’s. Please check it out:…

Curry Fried Chicken: is that an oxymoron?

Not it is not an oxymoron? It's a delicious restaurant that has done a wonderful job of incorporating Indian Spices with American Comfort Food. Just by walking in, you will be in a complete meditative state from the aroma.

Vintage Burgers, Not Antiques

On a quiet corner in downtown Salt Lake City, there is a place so obvious that you might miss it. This is because you won't realize that it's one of the best burger joints in the city. They do a good job of disguising themselves; maybe not intentionally. It appears to be an antique…

Spicy Smoked Pork Chili!

Over the weekend, I entered a Chili Cookoff. Having never cooked a chili before, I felt a little intimidated; especially since I helped to organize the event.

I had a great time and took 3rd, 4th & 5th amongst the Judges. I didn't add up to an overall top 3 finish but I was…
