Your place for community & resources to find or create work you love
We are so glad you're here and ready to take the next step! We created 48days.net as a place for community. For people to encourage each other and help each other in finding or creating work that is meaningful.
But frankly, we've outgrown it, so we're moving to provide you new resources.
48Days.net will be closing as it is today on November 30, 2017. Until then current members can click the button below to access groups and resources.
If you're new to 48days.net, connect here for a close up look at our thriving 48 Days Eagles Community and to get weekly free resources and motivation as you find and create work you love.
For four years now, Allan Dubon and I have lived 30 miles from each other. We made a few fruitless attempts to get together. Finally last week we met up. What an inspiring man. So grateful for the collaboration here.Continue
Continue Reading. What a crazy article title right? Who wants to focus on their weaknesses? What a drag this would be. But the truth is, don’t we do it all the time? I’m not saying that we actually do anything about it, but we focus on it with a magnifying glass.
A couple of weeks ago, my sister-in-law went to see a neighbor who needs help with his business. He runs a…Continue
You Don't know what you've got, until it's gone......Yes, I've heard that in a song somewhere.
The truth is that I use to be a very active member of this community. We had our second kid, I put more pressure on myself to do something practical, and jumped fully back into the job I was working on transitioning from. It's been busy but it's also been empty.
I can't believe the courage it took just to write an post another article. Yes, I still need my day job; yes, I need to…Continue
Last Friday, I was on my way to Bear Lake in Northern Utah. Knowing that we needed to pick up dinner, we stopped in Logan, Utah. I love food and usually just a restaurant by the look. Oh did we have fun when we walked into this place. We were actually an hour late in getting to the lake.
Hello, What a wild ride the past few months have been. I have gotten out of writing regularly and it depressed me..............Last week I had the pleasure of interviewing someone local in Salt Lake City who is starting a Ginger Beer. The drink is delicious and the story is what I love…Continue
For the past 4 months, I have been so busy with my job that I have ignored what I really love--the writing. But ignorance doesn't happen without feelings of anxiety and consternation.
I always thought that I would get to it tomorrow; but tomorrow never came, until I made it so. We all do this in life and ultimately we all have to recognize and reconcile. My latest article:
In my early teenage years, I had a Sunday School teacher who a very dynamic man. His career…Continue
I have written a series of unique life lessons titled "And So I." For the final one, I wrote about one of my greatest loves--BBQ.
It wasn't just about throwing some meat on the Smoker; it was the journey to get here, and the continual journey since.
Here is the Link:…Continue
Continue HereCan anything be learned from just a short workout? Well I sure found that out. My approach to many things in life has been to rush through it. Pushing myself too hard with a swim workout caused me to take a new look.
Here is the story:
During the summer of 2013, I hired a swim coach. Improving my aquatic ability was something that I longed for yet didn’t get around to for a…Continue
What a joy to be interviewed by fellow 48 Days Members, Dwain Scott and Val Shumake Jr. on their Shifting Work Podcast.
These two really get to the heart of your journey. Life can be such a joy when you find and develop what you love.
They have interviewed a few 48 Days Members. Reach out to them if you would like to be part of it.
Here is my interview…Continue
I couldn't go too long writing restaurant reviews without getting a review for the Old Dutch Store in Salt Lake.
During and after World War II, there were a large number of Dutch families that migrated to Utah. They had to have a sponsor here and the LDS (Mormon) connection was a…Continue
I can't wait to go back to the hospital; and not for a Dr.'s Appt.
Thank you for reading:…Continue
The thing which lights me up the most is finding hidden gems of a restaurant to try, and ultimately write about. You have to turn on your reticular activators as Dan talks about.
It was so much fun to find, taste and write about a place called Café Seoul in a suburb of Salt Lake. Their food…Continue
Here in the Salt Lake City area, I have never experienced Peruvian food or given it much thought. Then three weeks ago when I was rushing to get to an appointment, I saw this restaurant in an obscure location. I quickly took note of the name and vowed to return.
And return I did. I also got to write a…Continue
I had the opportunity to write for a local publication about an International Market with Indian, Pakistani and foods from 23 other countries. They couldn't have been more kind. And the food is awesome.
Thanks for your feedback.…Continue
Recently I was speaking to a friend and we were discussing life's struggles. This man is in his late 60's and was a pretty prominent doctor in Salt Lake. I have known of a few of his recent health struggles and he enlightened me further.
He said that when he was young, he thought that when he got into college that he would feel at ease. Then he decided to go to medical school and when he knew which school accepted him, then he hoped that he would feel at ease. Then he said that when…Continue
I had the opportunity to return to the University of Utah recently. Over a decade ago I graduated with a degree in Business Finance. Now I return to obtain degree in Food; at least of personal study of it.
There is a new Bistro there and I got to interview the Chefs and taste their delicious…Continue
Continue Reading HereI shared this a while back but it seemed appropriate to facing challenges everyday.
Since I was a little kid I have been able to Swim; at least a loose definition of the word. I could tread water, play in lakes, rivers, the ocean and swimming pools with little difficulty. Racing across a pool was fun because I often won and didn’t have…Continue
Hi there, sometimes I hesitate posting my food articles here thinking that everyone has enough going on; especially since most of them are right in the Salt Lake City area where only a few 48 Days members live.
But I love it, this lights me up and is the reason I got involved in the first…Continue
For years now, when my wife has inquired about going camping, I told her that we didn’t develop and progress in society so that we could return to living like cavemen. We all grow up and mature however and now that I am 36, I hope she has forgiven me and that a recent camping trip renewed her faith in…Continue
Yes, that is correct, I did have fear today! Last evening turned into a late night at a baseball game and the morning started early. My daughter was also tired, didn't get enough sleep and decided to be very difficult this morning. I was losing steam fast.
On top of that I have an article…Continue
