Does Cocoa Butter Really Work??

I grew up believing that when ever you had a dark blemish on your body or had a stretch mark , I needed to go out to the local dollar store and pick up a tube  $1 cocoa butter sick,this was something that has been instilled into my head because now that I am an adult I still do it. But does it work?What is a stretch mark? It is a form of scaring on the skin in a off color-hue, it is caused by the tearing of the dermis.
