The ONE Thing Holding You Back From Success

“Oh, I could never do that because I don’t know enough.”  “I don’t have enough money.”  “I don’t know anyone.”  Those are statements that I had uttered for the past 8 years.  The thrill of starting a business and breaking out on my own had always been a strong desire for me, but I always came up with an excuse for why I never seemed to be successful in any of them.  I had convinced myself that I was just a “jack of all trades but a master of none.”

Have you ever felt that way?  I…

How to Know What to Do for a Living

Do you ever still wonder what you want to be when you grow up? I hear from even people in their mid to later years that are still trying to uncover this daunting question.

Why is it so hard to get past this one? Don’t worry I get it. The story never ends. We’re always evolving into better versions of ourselves. Figuring out what works and what does not work.…

Don't Regret, Move On!

Ever had a missed opportunity? How did it make you feel? Well, if you are like most people, you felt regret and disappointment in yourself for letting the opportunity pass you by. Then, you probably wasted more time by beating yourself up verbally and playing back in your head over and over again what you should have done and "if only" scenarios.

However, next time a situation arises where you miss an opportunity, don't let it ruin your day and mind-set. Instead, turn the situation…

Dollars and Sense Decisions 3/3 - What's Next?

The Entrepreneur On Coffee podcast will be up in the next month or so (sneak peak below) in full swing on iTunes and Stitcher. This is a fun project and a way I can begin to give value and content that people want. Apparently "everyone" wants to open a coffee shop these days so here goes the only coffee podcast bringing this kind of content. This is also a shift in the use of my talents and I'm excited about where this can lead. Coffee is not a high margin situation, but…

A great end to Celebrating Women's Month

I had the opportunity to speak at the Lompoc Women's Federal Correction Center. Yes a prison. I accepted this speaking engagement to be able to share my story of overcoming my challenges. I had expected an audience of 80, which turned out to be 280, including the Warden and assistant Warden. The audience was dominated my men. When speaking I gets myself prepared, but the unknown is difficult to prepare for. Speaking at a federal prison I certainly did not know what to expect.

What I…

Group Leader
Change your view and your success will skyrocket!

Here I am sitting at my desk in my new home office looking out to the west as the sun begins to make it's way down.  I see a beautiful fishing pond, a tree filled lot, beautiful homes, an amazing neighborhood and I have a great sense of peace deep within and I know that I am a success.  This view out my office window has simply served to remind me of God's blessings and goodness and that is a huge part of my success.  I mentioned that this is a NEW office because in my old office my desk was…

Take Advantage of the Open Windows

Take Advantage of the Open Windows

Remember the song “Turn! Turn! Turn!” by The Byrds? It is still a popular song on the classic rock / oldies radio stations and if you haven’t heard it on the radio I bet you have heard that song used in dozens of TV advertisements.

It is pretty much a straight adaptation from the book of Ecclesiastes.  The theme of the song and that book…

Belly to Belly is Best [VIDEO]

My with, Claudia, and I just made it back from a conference in Chicago on internet marketing. We had a great time meeting new people and attending the great seminars. Not to mention, we had the wonderful opportunity to spend time with one of our mentors, Dan Miller.

One of the things we realized once again on this trip was the value of meeting people in person. Blogs and social media are great and all, but your relationships and opportunities strengthen and grow when you share a cup…

Stuck in a rut? Five ideas that will pry you free.

There once was a man who, in his mid-20’s, found himself dug into a trench; doing the same type of work for roughly the same day’s pay, for six straight years.

An older man, a man who would later become his mentor, walked up to him and asked,”How come…

Fear of Failure?

Does fear of failure keep you from doing something meaningful?

Perhaps, it's really fear of success. Many people are comfortable with not taking risk. After all, how would you handle success?

The Opportunity of a Lifetime!

We often make decisions based on fear. When faced with a choice between comfort and uneasiness, we tend to side with comfort. Making that decision isn't necessarily correct or safe; it just appears to be less troublesome to our emotions. A child learns this at a young age and is able to manipulate a parent into seeing the desired outcome.

Are You Connecting with People?

Most people drowning in debt would be stressed out. Panic would be the normal agenda. Granted, the day I was informed of the bad news my head was spinning at times. But the relief to finally have the opportunity to develop my own business overshadows debt at the moment.

Does your Idea Mesh?

How many times have you had one of those: "wish I would've thought about that idea" moments? Or the times you've thought about a new idea, never acted upon it, only to discover later someone else initiated the same thought and became highly successful. The failure to act, take a risk or perhaps our financial capital limits our capabilities to

Risk is Now the New Safe!

We see people in the workplace going through the motions, completing task after given task. A few of those folks take the time to add value to their work while most just see the cycle of repetition as a means to receive the next paycheck. Sometimes it's due to an overworked environment and less than optimal staffing; other times it's a case of employees accepting mediocrity.
