This poem from William Arthur Ward was shared with me recently and I wanted to pass it on. Knowing that all kinds of great stuff is shared in this forum, it's probably been posted here before, but it was new to me and maybe it will be new to some of you, too! It's about looking at risk from a different angle--that every day is filled with risks of varying degrees, and that we can learn to live with them and mitigate them through action and attitude.…Continue
Well, after reading that title, I just have to say
Apparently you have your whip and chair ready to tame the lions today! There’s no time better than right now to do that.
You might hear someone talk about “being present” and “in the moment” and you shake your head and say, “I am” but what does that really mean?
I’m not going to pursue getting you to “be present” right now, but I want you to think about how what we…Continue

We have all been there – facing someone exhibiting “attitude.” It’s a PITA, isn’t it? That’s because it’s not the attitude we want to see and work with every day.
Consider, though, how powerful – and productive – the right attitude could be for your business.
Change the way you choose the people you hire and those you want to have as partners. Let me give you a few ideas that can help you replace the aggravation of dealing with the PITA attitudes.

I am more than willing to give anyone the benefit of the doubt. Anyone can have a bad day and be impatient, irritated or rude. We all have those days. However, it seems to me that those who must work closely with people – whether they are teachers, counselors,…Continue
Environment impacts our lives and health, emotional and physical, in countless ways. For example, if you are working in a poorly ventilated room, it could affect how well you can breathe, especially if you have asthma or some other lung condition.
If you are constantly in a noisy environment, you…Continue
“The astounding revelation is that these endorphins and other chemicals like them are found not just in the brain, but in the immune system, the endocrine system, and throughout the body…In other words, emotions are not just purely psychological, but actually have a direct…Continue

Here I am sitting at my desk in my new home office looking out to the west as the sun begins to make it's way down. I see a beautiful fishing pond, a tree filled lot, beautiful homes, an amazing neighborhood and I have a great sense of peace deep within and I know that I am a success. This view out my office window has simply served to remind me of God's blessings and goodness and that is a huge part of my success. I mentioned that this is a NEW office because in my old office my desk was…Continue

So many of us feel inadequate and it paralyzes us from being who we were made to be. We think things like, "I'm just not intelligent enough to be successful or I wasn't born with natural ability." Nick Vujicic gives us some perspective on what it means to make the most of the life we are given.
Recently I was faced with a situation in my own life wherein my gut reaction was to immediately go negative. We all have them don’t we? It may be something as simple as someone cutting us off in traffic. It may be something as serious as getting fired at a job. So what are some…Continue

I don’t know if you’ve noticed this yourself, but a funny but disquieting thing is happening with me since I completed something of significance. I find my attitude has changed.
A mission of attitudinal proportions.…Continue
One of the unexpected things for me with jumping into entrepreneurship has been the need for a healthy mindset and attitude. To be honest, I never gave my mindset and attitude much thought until a few years ago. I always saw this part of personal growth as superfluous and only for those who were a little far out there.Continue
Remember before bluetooth technology when you used to see someone sitting at a stoplight and there was no doubt they were talking to themselves? If you’re like me, you found it humorous and couldn’t help but wonder what conversation was going on. Even funnier is when they were very…Continue

[The trick is] to realize that the pain isn’t something awful to be postponed and avoided, but a signal that you’re getting stronger — something to savor and enjoy. It’s what makes you better. ~ Aaron Swartz
I've been fighting a cold all week. It is kicking my butt and drains me of all…Continue

So how do you start on the path to getting more of what you want?
First, dream more.
I don’t know about you, but I never thought of myself as a “dreamer”. My idea of a dreamer was this…Continue
Shouldn’t experience count more than anything else? Some think so. I don’t.
I’m sure you know someone who is very experienced, but just keeps waiting for that next opportunity that never seems to come. How about when you’ve had to interact with someone who was clearly experienced but a real drag to deal with? These are two examples that prove that experience isn’t the most important thing.
Yes, experience is a big factor as it should be. However, the reality is that much…Continue

Can fear of success really inhibit us from moving forward? It can, and here are a few reasons why.
Some people remember the exact moment in time when man first stepped foot on the moon, or news reached them that US President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
There are a few moments in…Continue
