GREEN Tip of the Day October 31, 2010

Start a "homemade" gift policy for everyone in your family!...You don't have to spend a lot of money (or any money!), simply a gift of TIME...This will encourage creativity and will surely be the "gift" that's remembered the most.

Just Right Is Really Just Wrong

I just reread my previous post and saw a phrase that I thought I ought to reword. I ended the post by saying that if if I followed my GPS Life system, I would arrive at my destination without making any mistakes. That was my C personality speaking there. How I love it when I can accomplish goals without mistakes! Unfortunately that only happens in…

A Note of Encouragement

I'm a faithful listener to Dan's podcasts. I've noticed lately that there seems to be a disturbing thread in some of the questions, and I wanted to address that thread here.

There are a lot of folks who apparently feel trapped! Trapped in a job they don't like. Trapped in a life that they might not like that much.

I understand trapped! I felt that way for the past few years.

I taught high school up until this past May.…

GREEN Tip of the Day October 30, 2010

This idea works not only for the holidays, but for any time you're having a party...When you're adding ice cubes to your drink, sometimes the ice cubes in the bottom of the ice bucket are a melted mess...To solve this problem, place a colander on top of the ice bucket then add the ice cubes to the colander...If the ice cubes start melting, the excess water will drip into the ice bucket and the ice will be easier to grab with tongs...Problem solved!

We Need you!

We need you!

I am a quote junkie; I love them because they let you tap into wisdom in a short sentence. I read this quote and it got me thinking ("A tree gives glory to God by being a tree. For in being what God means it

to be it is obeying Him…. The more a…

THEY Made Me Do It!!!

So this is my first blog on the Net and sadly I have chosen to vent a bit on a particular person. There is a saying that you become who you spend time with. Well there is a person that all of us have met at one point or another and who continues to drive me CRAZY in my career as well as in my personal life.

This person has a general lack of follow through, personal ownership, and creative thinking. This person will…

GREEN Tip of the Day October 29, 2010

Here's a simple and easy decorating idea for Christmas...Purchase several spools of Christmas craft ribbon (ALL the same color/print)...Wrap the ribbon around anything such as throw pillows, lamp shades, pillar candles, a vase...Use your imagination and don't go overboard...By using the same color/print ribbon to decorate throughout your home, it creates a cohesive look from room to room with minimal cost.

Be aware of their feelings

Maya Angelou said " People will for get what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

This is very true. Leaders have a responsibility to take the feelings of their people into account when dealing with subordinates. Parents lead their children into adulthood, bosses lead their people into production, military commanders lead their people into battle. A leader that deals with their people in a firm, rational and…

Guilt

I performed a dental procedure for a friend recently. She works at a large corporation as a department director - a very smart and fun lady. She is also an amazing photographer and has a special gift in capturing nature and animals. She does it for a hobby.

I offered a trade - what about paying me with your photographs? I said "I love for you to take pictures of our dogs". The next thing she said shocked me.…

"If not now, when? If not us, who?"

Those famous words came from President Reagan at his second inaugural address.

They apply more today than ever before on so many levels, don’t you think?

Now:

- Why can’t you become debt free starting today?

- Since you can not afford that house, why not list it today and take

your first steps towards a short sale? Take your first steps towards

freedom....

- You have planned and talked about it long enough. Isn’t it time to make the jump and get…

Dare to be More

We have all either been or seen someone who has refused to march to their own drum, who

has not dared to be original. What has caused us all to become followers, and

to become too scared to step out and be us?

Is it fear of success? Maybe in some cases,

but in most I believe it is a lack of focus to our God given talents, and

hearts desires. What makes you unique?

What would make…

Living A Great Story (Part 2)

I finished reading Donald Miller’s A Million Miles In A Thousand Years. In a nutshell, it was one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. Why? It’s that rarest of books that inspires the reader to live better. And not by doing a hundred worksheets or action steps, not by reorganizing my schedule or writing a mission statement, but simply by reading it. It gets into your soul. You can’t help but start thinking of the stories in your life and the story of your life and,…
