A little more icing!

(Blog reprinted after posting in my local paper several weeks ago!)

Several weeks ago, I received some pleasant news pertaining to a blog I posted the first week of June on 48days.net. The blog-”Icing on the Cake” was…

Back in Action

I signed up for this a year ago when I was unemployed. I fooled around with an interviewing consulting service and it ended up morphing into a full-time job as a Business Development Manager with a local staffing company. This job is fun as I get to go out into the community and work with employers and trying to help them out. I write a monthly newsletter, market, market, market and work with key local organizations. I feel this job was put before me to help me 'come out of my shell'… Continue

Domain Registry of America Scam

If you own any domain names you undoubtedly have, or will at some point in the future receive a very official looking Domain Name Expiration Notice from a company called Domain Registry of America informing you that your domain name is due to expire. Shred this document. It is a huge scam and unfortunately too many people view it as an invoice and pay it without further thought.

This company gets its information from publicly available…

Sacred and Secular Coming Together in Business

In times past such a distinction was made between the "sacred" ministry roles and positions in the church versus "secular" positions in the marketplace that leaders outside the church were made to feel inferior to those who worked in full-time ministry within the church.
Fortunately those times are changing.…

Don't Follow Your Passion. WHAT?!?

Hopefully my title caught some attention. I heard a saying the other day that said Don't Follow Your Passion. Always Take It With You. I thought it was a great saying. My opinion of what it means is to not follow what you love but to always bring what you love with you. In whatever you are doing you should try and take your passions and try to implement them into whatever you are doing.

How would I spend $1000?

In his June 4 blog post, "Just Give Me Some Cash, Dude!", Dan relates the story of an encounter he had with a Taco Bell cashier. In the course of their interaction, Dan asked the cashier what he would do if her were loaned $1000. The cashier's response was that he would quit his job and just relax until the money was gone. As might be expected, Dan was disappointed with this response, and posed the question…

GREEN Tip of the Day June 30, 2010

Do you need to make a roast for a special meal and you don't want to use the oven because it's summer and it's already hot?...If you have a slow cooker, you can make the roast and vegetables all in one pot and save money, too...The slow cooker uses less energy than the oven and it won't heat the whole kitchen, either...It's really a GREEN way to cook and you only have one pot to clean!

"On wisdom's shoulders" Daily Insights - June 30, 2010

The true revelation is to understand that the knowledge that helped to get you where you are today, is not the same knowledge that will carry you through tomorrow’s journey. -jb

With the rapid rate of change in today’s world, there has never been a greater need to be a continuous learner. The discovery of new ideas, information, and insights is a must-have for you to grow both

personally and professionally.

What is Spirtual Health?

I’ve been really struggling this week to get a better grasp on what constitutes spiritual health. While I think I have a long way to go, I’ve come up with a couple ideas that I think are worth pursuing.

First, I looked in my old American Heritage Dictionary for the definition of health. One of the listed…

GREEN Tip of the Day June 29, 2010

It's time for camping and barbeques and you'll want a quick way to start those campfires and charcoal grills without the long wait...Here's a way to make a fire starter for the campfire (works in the fireplace, too) and a fire starter for the charcoal grill...Materials needed for both projects are: CARDBOARD egg cartons (small PAPER cups will work too), dryer lint, melted wax (great way to use old candles or broken crayons!) and charcoal briquets...For the campfire…

"Why not do both?" Daily Insights - June 29, 2010

Positive thinking is to remind yourself that today will be a good day.

Prosperous thinking is to realize that the resources you need (potential, creativity, the helping hand of others), are already connected to you. -jb

As you move into the work and life you’ve always wanted, sometimes we forget that God has already blessed us with all we need.

Link arms with someone who believes in you and shares your vision.…

But...It's Mine!!

Maybe it has been awhile since you were in the sandbox bantering back and forth who owned the shovel or bucket and who had first dibs on using

it, but I bet you have been playing the game for some time. I know I

Just because we are no longer in the sandbox doesn't mean that we have graduated into some mature level of learning to share.

Its Just Entertainment

Subscribe to my Daily Blog http://ltj2010.wordpress.com

Some call it entertainment, some call it gambling. I call it just plain stupid. I just can’t seem to wrap my head around what is so entertaining about losing money? I see absolutely no point in it.

But I just want to be able to go relax and have some fun with my friends, So whats wrong with that? I’m sure there are a lot better things to do than waste your… Continue

Your Website is Key to Your Economic Recovery

Your website is one of the key elements of your economic recovery. Often business owners don't realize the tremendous revenue generating capabilities of their website until they;

  • See friends, family and competitors making money through their website

GREEN Tip of the Day June 28, 2010

We all get new phone books every year (I think mine just breed!)...So what can you do with the outdated ones?...An obvious tip is to use as a "booster seat" for the little ones, but here are a few more...Keep it handy for disposable clean up rags (like pet throw up/waste), tear out sheets as needed...The pages are similar to newsprint so they will work for cleaning windows and mirrors...Tape the book closed and use it as a kneeling pad for gardening or household chores...Use…
