My 48Days - Day 40-ish - Serenity with Self

A couple of nights ago, my wife told me something that caught me slightly off guard. She told me that she was proud of me, and “You’re not the man I married. . . in a good way.”…

Social Media Doesn't Work

Believe it or not, I keep hearing that social media doesn't work. This isn't a long post; I'll just make two points.

First, here's a list of the top referring websites to Coach Radio.

  1. Direct
  2. Twitter
  3. 48days.net (social website)
  4. Google
  5. Free Agent Academy (social…

"Both are Needed" - Daily Insights -- May 31, 2010

Faith without preparation is not the best use of anyone’s time.

Roger Staubach said that “spectacular achievements come from unspectacular preparation”.

While faith is the tipping point that separates the champions from the contenders, when you take the time to fully prepare yourself, not just spiritually, but also emotionally, mentally, and physically, you

are at the peak of readiness and can be used by God in the fullest way

possible.

Failure to prepare,…

Thanks Dan for sharing the 48 Low Cost Business Ideas!

Dan talked about that USP, and I know what that entails, but are there resources that anyone could direct me to -especially in a field that interest me and it seems like a whole lot of others too?

The Importance of Story

book Chris Brogan got me thinking about stories. I love hearing other people's stories. They're fascinating to me. I haven't yet met anyone who doesn't have an interesting story to tell.

Stories are how you got to where you are. Mine involved flying around the country as an airline captain before starting my business. It was getting mad enough about a few things and channeling that anger to help some… Continue

"Shape Your Mind... Change Your Life." Daily Insights - May 30, 2010

To stretch your thinking into a place its never been, is to participate in mental yoga at the highest level. -jb

Thinking about things, the way you’ve always thought about them, will do very little to stimulate change in your life.

To use a Zig Ziglar-ism, to break the habit of ’stinkin thinkin’, there must be a continuous flow of new ideas, concepts, and possibilities.

If you’re not quite able to stretch that far (pun intended), surround yourself with people…

Vacation and Guardrails

Yes. It can be done.

You can go on vacation and not have the bill follow you home for the next few of months.

The key, like anything else, is to plan and act before you go on vacation. Plan on how

much it will cost and how much…

"The Fountain of Beauty" - Daily Insights-May 29

The more you drink from your own well, the greater the thirst for self-awareness. -jb

There is nothing quite as exhilarating and fulfilling as watching someone get in touch with who they are, and to move forward with their dreams.

To confidently turn dreams into reality, you need to have an intimate understanding of your best features and qualities.

To guide you into that knowing, there are many choices available.

You could team up with a mentor, hire a coach, get…

Fear

Why is it that most people don't even try for their goals or fall short. I believe it can be summed up in one word fear. I will be honest and say that this is something I am dealing with just as everyone else. I have been facing up tot his reality lately and have learned some truths. If you wait until things are perfect you may never get started. Fear is something that is always going to be with us. It is just normal.Fear is the enemy of success. Someone said that BEHIND EVERY SUCCESFUL… Continue

A Teacher Turns Students Into Apples!

As homeschoolers of 3 of our 6 kids, we don't have the usual school presentations throughout the year. We team up with other like minded parents through group classes and co-ops to give our kids a chance to prove how much better they are than the other children...I mean share in a wonderful experience of mutual love and fun.

Tonight was "Speech" night. We had an array of funny, serious, persuasive and silly speeches presented from little tikes up to kids 13 years old or so…

IdeaNet, Facing Up To Challenges Part 1

So I've finally cleaned out the my backlog of ideas (at least the ones I can recall at the moment), so now it's time to get on to the meat of the problem and move forward...and so I haven't posted all week <sheepish look>. This is going to get a little long, so I'm going to break this up into several parts.

While I'm not sure anyone missed my explorations into ideas, I still feel bad for not following through on my commitment to Tues/Thurs/Sat commitment. I could give…

Great, small book for making use of social media for business

Chris Brogan, of chrisbrogan.com, has long been among my favorite authors to read and learn from. I recently picked up his book, Social Media 101, and believe it’s a fantastic read for any small, medium or large business owner who wants to better understand why they should be using social media effectively, and how to do… Continue

Conformity is overrated!

I stood outside the big rig while Alan, the driver, a 40-something year old with shoulder length blond hair beckoned what I thought was his dog.

“No, it’s not a dog,” he said with a grin.

“Well, what on….” I stopped mid sentence as I watched a black cat, touches of white here and there, trot out from behind a dumpster. He sat down at Alan’s feet, accepted a few scratches behind his ear and then hopped up into the cab of the truck.

Alan seemed to enjoy the… Continue

ONE more Trip Around the Sun

I took one more trip around the sun recently and I am learning more than I ever dreamed. I know that it is never too late or too early to be passionate about anything. I know that what I have will never make me credible but what I

do or don't do will always make a difference. I know that I will never be able

to count my blessings.

I know that it is better to take a good swimmer and a life jacket with you when you think you can walk on…

"How does your garden grow?" Daily Insights-May 28, 2010

Innovation springs forth from the garden of cooperation. -jb

It was legendary business philosopher Jim Rohn who said, “none of us is as smart as all of us”.

What a poignant statement. And he’s right.

No matter where you are in life, just starting out in your career walk, in mid-transition, or creating your own opportunity, those that innovate, will always have a place.

Surround yourself with others who are bold enough to think creatively. It will stimulate your…

You Don't Need a Step-by-Step Plan for Your Business

compass The great thing about a step-by-step plan is that it probably worked for someone at one point so they wrote it down to share with you. As a coach, people come to me for a step-by-step plan to get their business running better. Many people are looking for a road map to follow in order to become successful.

But you don't need a map...you need a compass.

Derek spoke recently on the importance of… Continue
