The 3Rs of Success in Consulting

I ran across a great story at http://www.independent-consulting-bootcamp.com this week.

The Oldest Profession…

A medical doctor, an engineer, and a management consultant were arguing about what was the oldest profession in the world.

The doctor started… “Well, in the Bible, it says that God created…

Is it time for a change?

Is it time for a change?

We often do the same things day in and day out, year in and year out, and become comfortably numb to the way we live.  A lot of the things we do we may not enjoy such as our job and the way we handle our money.  We keep on going to our place of work and instead of enjoying it we just learn to endure the day.  This also affects the way we handle our finances.  When we are not happy in our daily work routine we will try to find something…

An Interview with Kimanzi Constable, Author of Are You Living or Existing?

Kimanzi Constable worked as a bread truck driver and hated his job. Now he is an author, speaker, and consultant who has sold 80,000 ebooks and has his first published book, Are You Living or Existing, set to launch May 1, 2013.

I had the opportunity to interview Kimanzi about his new book and how he made his dream a…

Where is God in all this?

My previous post Coming Back for Good I discussed what I was going to do or need to do. I didn't mention anything about God and my relationship with God. There are many times I think about what I want to do and how to do it without consulting the ultimate consultant, Jesus.  The Bible has many things to say about how you should plan your steps. The following scriptures are the ones I know about and have loosely followed until now. I will keep these in front of me to remind me who the…

Business Loans for Veterans

As a Commercial Loan Originator I see a lot of people trying to start a business with little to know knowledge of how find and request funding. As a veteran I know that leaving the military and trying to work under a civilian that cannot possibly understand our experiences can be hard if not close to impossible. Thankfully I have access to a program specifically for Veterans and other service members to start their own companies.  Here are some of the details on the program. Feel free to ask…

What Would You Do If You Weren’t Afraid?

The real question is simple. “What would you do if you weren’t afraid?”

The answer to this question pinpoints something in each of us which makes us squirm inside. As we face this question and mull it over in our minds, we feel jumpy. The question feels weighty and difficult,…

Letting A Little Sunshine In...

For the past few weeks, there's been a dearth of sunlight in my neck of the woods. However, in the past couple of days the sun has made a surprise return. Alas, I do a majority of my writing barricaded within in my apartment.

Some days, I do not even step outside of my writer's cocoon.

Today will be different, I have a few daylight errands to run and I plan on taking a leisurely stroll around my neighborhood.

I start my new position on Monday. It's a gig that is…

Coming back for good

Hello 48 Days family,

I have been away from 48 Days for some time now, buy taking a side road since the fall of 2011 to attend a local community college for a degree in accounting. I am going to attend the last quarter this spring, yahoo, yippee, happy dance!! I have had a great time at school and have amazed myself at my ability to still learn at my 62nd year on this planet. When I walk across the stage to receive the diploma I need to have, Lord willing, some avenues of…

There Are No Magic Sentences

Did you do this? When I first decided to become a writer, I’d finish reading a book that had totally engrossed me, and I’d look at the individual sentences and wonder how the author had created such magical constructs of words to transport me to another time and place. My confusion grew as I realized that each sentence was simply a combination of ordinary words put together in an ordinary manner.

As an adult and someone who has studied writing for quite some time now, I know a couple…

The EPIC Post of all Posts

So last night I finished a major hurdle with a project at work around 10 pm. This is after two weeks of late nights and weekends. And I was feeling a bit spunky and wrote the most epic post I've ever written. I was open, out there, and expressive at a level I have not been at before. It was like breathing pure oxygen with a hint of Vick's vapor rub and the smell of cherry blossoms - if you like cherry blossom smells.

Then I hit "publish post" and received the dreaded "site under…
