Five Things I Learned From Planning the Called Woman Conference
Yesterday was the Called Woman Conference and what a great day we had! The attendees learned about their personality style, how to discover their mission to guide their life and about the leadership qualities that we all have. We had three additional speakers who talked about how they discovered their passion and reinvented their lives after leaving…

We are our own worst critiques when it comes to forgiving ourselves when we "fail".
I had the honor and privilege to interview with Dr. Pei King on a recent Real Good Health podcast episode (episode…

Derailed but Not Defeated!
I would like to start this blog by saying (or rather typing) that it is so great to be back as an active member of the 48Days community. The ideas, support, and encouragement of this community are unparalleled! I’ve missed being a part of the great things happening here.
Two months ago I was preparing to give a talk to 200 teenagers at a church. Right before my talk my cell phone started to ring. I make it a practice to not answer my phone right before I speak because I want to be…

One week ago today, my cousin Mike passed away at the age of 54. My own brother Bill passed away in March of 2010 at the age of 54. I'm 51. Fifty-four just doesn't seem as old now as it did when I was 17.
When we get together to bid a close family member good-bye from this earthly shore, we begin to see things from a different angle.
The eulogy at Bill's funeral spoke about how, as a nurse, he cared for his patients, and fumed about the "BS" paperwork that got in the way of…

What in the world?
I have been in the midst of an ongoing battle with my spouse about what I should be doing in regards to work. Her idea is to get a job an work the next 40 years in the same job! That would be great but I am inclined to believe that those jobs are a thing of the past. I am currently working two part time jobs which I got after about a two month time between jobs. One job is with the local county government and Krystal's where I will be a breakfast cook and eventually the breakfast supervisor.…

The Most Important Thing
This week was spring break at the college where I am employed part time, and I had it all planned out. While many of my colleagues were planning beach trips and other spring break outings, my plan was to spend the whole week doing the work I love so much, practicing the laying on of hands and changing lives through…

Spring is here and in full swing. The earth is in a season of renewal. With April showers, May flowers, fresh air, birds singing, many of us get a mode of cleaning our house. We start organizing our clothes to make room for the warm weather items as we put away the winter ones. Then we start to spruce up the house by cleaning things we never mean to clean like windows baseboards, and corners. Throwing, away old items and bring in the new and adding new colors to liven up…

While sitting at my house, I was looking at all the stuff that I had accumulated over the years. It is amazing how we buy things just to buy them. The stuff sits in our houses collecting dust. While our dreams of a life we always wanted wait until one day when the kids…

Simplify Success
Coffee is the world’s second most traded commodity (oil is first). It is crucial to the economies of numerous nations and provides income to thousands of rural farmers.
Coffee also is the beverage of choice for millions of people. Nothing gets the day started quite like a great cup of coffee… at least that’s the way I start my day.
I roast my own…
