I remember when I was little one thing I wanted when I grew up was to have my own business. We dream of things and when they come true we often find ourselves wanting more. Why is that? How can we find contentment when we keep changing the dream or worse yet never recognize that we ARE in fact living our dream?
When I was 22 I started my first business. Did it go well, no? But I was living my dream, I had my own business. I have started and operated at least 8 business… Continue

Want a taste of entrepreneurship? I thought this sounded a bit intriguing and rightly so. It was 10 days of being on my own, so to speak. I did learn that I was not quite as prepared as I thought I was, but it was fun, interesting and helped clear my mind on some lingering thoughts.
Quite simply, it was spring break for the kiddos. My wife and oldest were going to London, England for a school trip for the whole 10 days. I would have the two younger children at home with me. Suffice… Continue

I really don't recall in which Batman movie (or cartoon) was it that I first heard the masked vigilante respond to his assailants terrified inquiry, "who are you?" with a slight pause, "I'm Batman!" Got me thinking about my own response if I was asked the question, who are you? Who am I? I could probably share all of my titles or different hats that I wear in life but that would not answer the question as precisely as the statement made by the Dark Knight!
You see what I am getting… Continue

To save energy when cooking on your stovetop (gas or electric), use reflector drip pans under your burners...The heat will be reflected back to the bottom of the pot/pan where it belongs...Also, the reflectors are reusable and will help keep the area under the burners clean.

I'm going through our Family Creed
and addressing each line. The next one up is "We believe...that everyone's feelings count." Funny enough, my first inclination on this as a family creed is that it means that we pay attention to the feelings of our small children. While I definitely believe that is important, I've been struck lately that it really means everyone.
That means us parents, too. … Continue

Look around you, and try to get an understanding of how your environment is conducive to your growth. I believe whole heartedly on the effects that our environment has on us. Yes, in order to achieve great things, we need to be the greatness we expect to see in our lives; no matter where we are at. However, it can be quite a challenge to obtain that feeling of greatness in difficult… Continue

When you're browning meat or pan frying on your stovetop, you don't want a greasy mess on the burners that you're not using...Cover the unused burners with inverted aluminum pie pans/baking sheet...The pie pans/baking sheet are easier to clean than the entire stovetop.

Yesterday we discussed how you can use Google Docs as a way to store some important blog information. Today, I want to share with another way that I really like.
2. Dropbox.com - Dropbox is an extrememly powerful service that can be very helpful to your business. You can sign up for a free account on their website. This will allow you to have a certain amount of free space to use. If you ever run out of space, they have low-cost upgrade options that you can use as well. What is… Continue

I can leave the military in about 18 months after more than 23 years of service and am considering my options. No bridges are burned, and I really like my current position, but I've radically departed from my original career path (flying airplanes) and am now deeply engaged in combat-like operations in the Pentagon.
I now consider myself on a 448-days to the work I love quest, and am interested in opinions and options. As I said, I'm a pilot and love all things aviation, but am also… Continue

So last week I was on the phone with a particular Internet company. I was tweeting out the play by play as I “patiently” waited for answers to my billing questions.
I actually blocked off an hour for this task and almost went over.....
Needless to say , I was steaming......but they eventually made it right (only after blowing an unnecessary “human gasket”).
The responses I received while I was blasting out tweets every couple of… Continue

Lately I've been trying to find a correlation between tweets, Facebook likes, and comments on my posts. I've spent a few hours studying google analytics and I even put together this comparison sheet on my latest posts.
The sheet is sorted from highest number of comments to lowest. With only two exceptions, Facebook Likes are right in line with number of comments. Interestingly, the tweets are all… Continue

To prevent sticky rims on bottles/jars (like honey or syrup), simply place a piece of plastic food wrap on the rim before you screw the lid back on...Or wipe a light coating of vegetable/olive oil on the cleaned rim then screw the top back on...Makes the bottle/jar easier to open the next time.

If you are going to have a stable, legitimate online business, then you need to treat it as such. It is easy to get scattered and have your websites, content, and affiliate IDs scattered all over your local computer and online. In this series, we have already discussed the importance of organizing your online business in a spreadsheet. If you need a refresher, take a moment and re-read how to organize your online business. So you operate your business according to "Christian Principles?" Do you really? Seriously? Well, maybe you do, and maybe you don't! Do you understand what that statement really means? Do you take yourself seriously? If so, you need to live it 24/7 -- seriously.
This post is not intended to be a discussion of any particular religious belief system. It could apply to any belief system, religious or otherwise. It is being written because there seems to be an increasing number of… Continue

I’ve heard it said time and time again, “I’m just coming up blank”. It’s as though people are waiting for the answers of how they should be living, or what they are “supposed” to be going after, to appear right in front of them. The structured mindset that wants instructions before taking… Continue

There sometimes is no way to truly accept something but by learning it the hard way. I have been there and know while I would have much preferred to have these brilliant facts of life simply slip into my being without experiencing the sometimes awkward and often painful acknowledgment of their truths, I am at least relieved to know I have learned these at last.
1. WE ARE CREATED TO FORGIVE
It is far easier to hold a grudge but far more painful… Continue
