How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
Heard about 48 days on Dave Ramsey. I want to be affiliated with a group of believers and prayerful Christians who can help provide guidance, support, encouragement, and networking opportunities. I also want to be able to uplift others and share my testimony of what God can do (please read below to understand).
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I am a financial services consultant and my husband and I own a medical sales company. Finally, we closed a restaurant at the end of 2010 that we opened and operated for a year because the economy absolutely killed us. After putting in $200k cash (every bit of savings that we had accumulated), it devastated us financially. If not for my faith in God, because He has never and will never fail me, I would have been on the brink of feeling hopeless. God is good and He is working on our behalf. I definitely have a testimony through this journey of restoration and rebuilding.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I have and always will have the entrepreneur mindset. I want to share a business that improves the lives of people while allowing me to provide for my family and give to others.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
1) I want to have the freedom (time and wealth) to enjoy my family. I am married to the most wonderfully loving and supportive husband in the world, David. We have a beautiful and gifted 7 year old daughter, Ayanna.
2) My husband is a pastor and I want to have the freedom to attend church services throughout the week (we have 4 services) without being too tired to make it to midweek service.
3) I want to spend my time and effort increasing my family's wealth and showing others how to get to a better place. I want to be a personal demonstration to others that God is no respector of persons and that He can open up any door if you believe, live right, and work towards making your dream a reality.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
Entrepreneur at heart; relationship oriented; exceptional marketer; want to help others get to a better place (spiritually, financially, physically, emotionally); can take technical concepts and break them down to be easily understood; testimony that with God, all things are possible regardless of how bad your current situation may look in the natural; financial planning background (previously a financial advisor).
If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:
1) I have a home-based business that not only pays residual income but the model of the business is to pay your household bills! By just referring people, the company will pay your cell phone bill, cable bill, internet, electric bill, and a $750 car allowance. Go to www.VitelWebinar.com for details and then contact me to answer any questions you may have (email@example.com or 361-237-0212).
Thank you for your wall post! I currently am an Intern working within the Federal Government. I am training to become a Human Resources Analyst. Although I do like the Intern role for now, I would like to have a more enjoyable job that involves encouraging and empowering others. I like providing business and HR consulting services & workforce development services at work, but I would like to tap into my counseling and personal coaching experience again (on the side). I have an academic background in psychology and I have an interest in learning of the human element--how people can improve and do more in life. I am active in my church's community activities and enjoy it. I also enjoy helping/encouraging people to grow and to do better and in learning more about myself as well.
Thanks so much for the welcome! I love talking about careers and helping people find the work they love to do. I am also exploring these same questions again myself, at a new stage in life. It looks like this is a great community to share ideas.
Please let me know if there are ways I can help you with what you want from the site too.
Thanks for the welcome. I am looking forward to the communication and coaching that the site has to offer. Right now I am not sure where I want to go when I retire in 3 years. Real estate has been properous but the question is do I want to put in that much time after retirement, it does require quite a bit of time. I will keep in touch and look forward to hearing from you.
Nice to hear from a fellow Texan! I joined after reading '48 days to the work you love' and 'no more mondays'. From a career / employer side, my current employer has given me notice that I will be laid off sometime in early April of 2011. Which is a blessing, it is forcing me to think about what I want to do and where, also it is getting me out of a less than desirable work environment.
I am currently working through the 'inward looking questions' and possibilities that were listed in 'no more mondays'. I am contemplating both for hire ideas (working for a company) and self employment ideas. I don't have anything solid yet. I am up to possibility #12 out of a total of #20 that I need to write down. Then I will begin the process of eliminating possibilities that don't match with my desires, skills and passion.
Hi Teri, It is nice to meet you. Thanks for dropping me a note, it is so fun to get to know other like minded entrepreneurs, and there are great people here. I have been having a great time building http://doughraisingmom.com, and learning all the technology has been an absolute blast! I look forward to getting to know you as your grow your business. Keep i touch. Grace
I try to take time each week to welcome new members to 48Days.Net. So, let me say "welcome" to you! I know you will find this to be a great site filled with people who are experiencing true success in both life and work.
One thing I noticed on your profile is that you listen to Dave Ramsey. Me too!
Also, I'd like to point out that one of the best places to connect with other liked-minded people here is in the GROUPS section. There are groups for just about every interest you can think of, and if you can't find a group that interests you, you can start one. Groups are my favorite part of 48Days.Net!
Finally, if you happen to be a speaker or author (or want to become either), check out these two groups. They are two of the most popular groups on the site because of all the great conversation taking place:
