Your place for community & resources to find or create work you love

We are so glad you're here and ready to take the next step! We created 48days.net as a place for community. For people to encourage each other and help each other in finding or creating work that is meaningful.

But frankly, we've outgrown it, so we're moving to provide you new resources.

48Days.net will be closing as it is today on November 30, 2017. Until then current members can click the button below to access groups and resources.

If you're new to 48days.net, connect here for a close up look at our thriving 48 Days Eagles Community and to get weekly free resources and motivation as you find and create work you love.

Profile Information

What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I'm an employee for an aerospace firm as a software development team lead.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
Within 1 year, I have a strong desire to transition back into active software development, while still in an "employee" mode.

I want to be able to generate an independent income stream and sufficient investment income to allow me to retire in 3 years. I would like to focus on songwriting/recording, music ministry, and home building projects as full-time "work".
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I would like to upgrade our home from our original "starter" house, to one that has enough room to comfortably visit with our kids, their spouses, and our grandchildren.

I would like to be able to focus on my family and music full time within 3 years. I'd like to complete a significant educational milestone that has been on the horizon for too many years.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I've learned how to "eat an elephant"...one bite at a time. I.e., breaking an overwhelming project into achievable tasks until the goal is achieved.
Songwriting, music composition, arranging, and multitrack recording through the demo stage.
Written communication, whether in a technical, prose, or lyrical context.
Home improvement skills...a side "benefit" of having an old house ;-).

Wow ! That's totally cool that you worked on the B-52 !
I have a few other photos of my guitars, but, I need to take some new ones, since I've built some new prototypes. Incidentally, one of them reminds me of the Stealth aircraft of late, and even of Johnson's pioneering Stealth aircraft, the SR-71 Blackbird.
I could e-mail you a couple demos of my songs, as I have mp3's of them. I am interested in working on remote collaberation for my recording and writing. Maybe I can actually make some progress with your help. The demos I have now were recorded at two different studios here in Connecticut. I have NOT recorded anything successfully on my computer, although, I have managed to do some editing, and enhancement of my demos with it. Most of my original music is for guitar, and needs a vocal line added. So, far, I haven't met a vocalist who can sing in a rock style, though. I sing some, but, I'm no Robert Plant ! I sing more like Jack Bruce (Cream's main vocalist), or Eric Clapton, with shades of Greg Lake, Paul Rogers, and Paul McCartney.

Steve, there's an interesting connection between aerospace and guitar design. Where do you think the name "Stratocaster" came from? Probably the B-52 "Stratofortress" of the 1950's, when Leo Fender first came out with his guitars ! In fact, I used to build model airplanes while I was growing up. I think that definitely has some influence on my guitar designs. (Although, the one in my picture is based on a design the Lord showed me in a dream, and I used colors and materials intended to evoke the look of an angel's harp.) Still, it has a remarkable resemblence to the XB-70 supersonic bomber, and the Concourde supersonic transport.
On another subject, I sure could use some help recording more of my music ! I have had nearly zero success with recording using my computer. It's WAY complicated !! Whatever happened to just pressing "Play" and "Record" at the same time ? ! UGH !
