Innov48

This is a hangout for creatives to share and explore ideas that create better art and more of it.  This is a place for the daydreamers, artists, musicians, and writers. We are the "round pegs in square holes" who trust intuition and serendipity over rules and dogma and we will never sell out.  We believe art is sacred and life is too short not to follow our passion.  We reject the “starving artist” mentality because we accept our uniqueness and value our creative works that make the world a…See More

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
48 Days podcast - I heard about 48Days from Dave Ramsey.
I'm hoping to find good ideas, resources, and support as I transition from traditional work to self-employment.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
Aspiring free agent
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
Self-employed in a personally fulfilling and financially rewarding career.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I'm working on getting in shape and spending more time with family and friends creating great memories together. I want to live a great story and help others do the same. I would also love to record music again. I play guitar, sing, write, etc.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I am what Andy Andrews might call a ‘noticer’. I notice things that others don’t. My top StrengthsFinder themes are Context, Futuristic, Relator, Belief, and Achiever. That means I see things in their context, with a sense of their history, understanding how and why they got to be the way they are. I take that context and explore possibilities for the future. What can we dream and achieve going forward? I’m a Relator, which means I want to go deep in relationships. The surface won’t cut it with me. And, I’m driven by a strong belief that God has created me (and you) for a purpose. The Achiever in me is driven to succeed, but when you look at my other StrengthsFinder themes, you’ll see why just climbing the corporate ladder or building a business selling a billion widgets is not for me. I need to believe in what I’m doing. I need to know that my work has eternal value. I'm a writer, musician, husband, and dad. I'm passionate about helping individuals live their calling.

48 Years to... Death or Retirement

Posted on February 4, 2013 at 4:44am 1 Comment

I started down the 48 Days to the Work You Love path with excitement and great expectations. Somehow, like many of you, my path has turned into something more aptly described as the "4 - 8 Years to the Work You Love" - which is fine as long as it doesn't turn into "48 Years to finally getting to retire or die."

The last couple years have been particularly challenging as I've been getting closer and closer to my free agent career, but have had my efforts derailed by…

Ten Leaders NOT in the White House

Posted on November 9, 2012 at 9:36pm 0 Comments

Real leaders are rarely elected to any office. They occasionally get awards or medals, but if they do, they don’t care about them. Sometimes they get disciplined, fired, arrested, or court-marshaled for doing the right thing. But, they are the real leaders and you know them when you see them.

So, here’s my list of ten leaders not in the White House:

  1. Andy Andrews - Homeless in his early twenties after both his parents died when he was 19, Andy has become a best-selling…

Podcasting The Right Way

First, let me admit that I am not an expert in the world of podcasting. That being said, I have jumped in with both feet recently and am learning rapidly. Not being an expert and not having gobs of money to throw at the experts to have them set me up with a professional studio, I am forced to comb the internet…

Hi Scott,

Thanks for joining Strengthen My Spiritual Life. I feel honored that you have joined our group and look forward to hearing/reading more about how we can help each other. Like you, I learned about Dan from Dave, and I am also on a path towards being self-employed -- while being financially responsible in the process. (Also, I see you live in Ohio. That's cool because my parents live in Ohio as well -- in the city of Lima not too far from you!)

As the 'leader', or launcher of Strengthen My Spiritual Life, I'd love it if you could take a few minutes to fill out a short survey (linked here) to let me know how I can best help you out on our shared journey together, and/or jump into the group by commenting on discussions and/or creating your own and sharing your thoughts, feelings, and reactions as they relate to anything spiritual in our lives.

Welcome again and thanks for joining us in Strengthen My Spiritual Life!

Thanks for the welcome, Scott. Glad to be here. As far as guitar, I love anything acoustic, but I'm particularly drawn to the blues. Wish I had more time, but I love to play whenever I get the chance.

Hey Scott,

Thanks for the welcome! I started learning guitar about 3 years ago and took a year of lessons (though I didn't devote the practice time to it I should have), then had to/chose to step away from it for a couple of years. I just picked it up again about 2 weeks ago. I'm not sure yet what musical style I'll be most drawn to, but I do know that I love finger-style in any genre where it can fit!
