Tithing, offering and giving part 2

Tithing, offering and giving part 2Last week we learned the difference between tithing, offering and giving.  Tithing is the giving of 10% of your income to your local church that you are a member of.  Offering was that which is presented in divine service; an animal or a portion of bread or corn, or of gold and silver, or other valuable articles, presented to God as an atonement for sin, or as a return of thanks for his favors, or for other…See More

Tithing, offering and giving

Tithing, offering and giving  This is a topic that brings a lot of confusion discussion and argument amongst Christians.  There is lot of unnecessary guilt that can be associated with tithing, offering and giving.  First let’s distinguish between them, tithing and offering and giving.  Tithing is a giving of the first fruits of your income. (First fruit- the first fruits of the crop: - first fruit (-ripe [figuratively), hasty fruit.)The word tithe literally means a tenth “You shall surely tithe…See More

Doing it for God?

Doing it for God?  When a person feels like they have found their calling they often feel like that’s what God has put them on earth to do. We feel like we need to do this for God.  I believe that our calling is a wonderful gift from God, but a lot of times we make that our god. We use our calling to define our identity and not who we are as Christians, sons of God. We as men, especially, shape our whole life around our work.   We look to our calling to bring us happiness, fulfillment, peace…See More

Should I rent or buy?

Should I rent or buy?  At some point in our lives we all have this question.  Half of the people you talk to say rent and the other half say buy.  Every situation is different and there is no one size fits all when it comes to this question.  Let’s talk about a few of the issues that can arise from this question and help answer some of the problems you may run across.  I will agree with most folks out there that, now is a good time to buy a house.  This is true only if you can afford to pay…See More

Is it time for a change?

Is it time for a change? We often do the same things day in and day out, year in and year out, and become comfortably numb to the way we live.  A lot of the things we do we may not enjoy such as our job and the way we handle our money.  We keep on going to our place of work and instead of enjoying it we just learn to endure the day.  This also affects the way we handle our finances.  When we are not happy in our daily work routine we will try to find something to buy or go on as many vacations…See More

You Might need a financial coach if

You might need a financial coach if….    Most of us have heard the “you might be a redneck if…” jokes from Jeff Foxworthy.  I have always enjoyed them and have been accused of being a redneck myself, many times. So, what gave me this idea? I was listening to the radio the other day and heard a lottery commercial. After that I heard the commercial for getting help if…See More

2013- A New Year

2013 – The New Year     I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas this year.  It is hard to believe that we are at the end of 2012.  There is a lot of wonder and anxiety going into 2013.  We have the fiscal cliff we are facing, struggling economy, the tragedy in Connecticut and basically a divided country.  I wished I could say that I could solve those problems overnight, but no one can and a quick fix usually sets us up for a future failure.  I believe the best way for us to see changes in…See More

Hello Tim,

Earlier this month you provided some valuable feedback on my CareerClips idea and I'm wondering if I could have a few moments of your time to complete a brief survey.

You are already somewhat familiar with the idea but the survey contains an introductory paragraph that explains things in more detail. The survey should take less than 5 minutes to complete and all results are confidential. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help. Here is the link to the survey:

Hello Tim:
I am doing okay, going through battles but holding on. I am dealing with issues regarding creativity and seeking God for help on how I can create income, even though I have been giving good ideas. Please keep me in your prayers, and I am thankful that you care.
