oh Nathan...thanks!!
Well...I think you are totally right in sometimes we just need to start over to get a better result and it is worth it in the end. For personal finance journey book, I wil need to take some more time with the cover. This one I wanted "generic" as I wanted it to be for triathete as well go hand-in-hand with the personal finance book at speaking engagements. They are two totally different stories, but the same concept (it can apply to many things in life besides finance and athletics).
I figured with my tight budget, this "free" cover worked out pretty darn well. I can always change it afterwards as I bought the set of 10 ISBN numbers that Dan recommended. I liked his idea of repursing content. If this title and cover doesn't work, I don't mind changing it.
Nathan, thanks for your honest feedback!
Jen
My goal? To sell 100,000 copies! (: So far, I have 2 for sure sold, so I only have a few more to go. Dan Miller would probably cheer at this...however, he would boo me for not having a written down marketing plan and for writing this book before targeting a market. Oh well. I wrote it. I am learning and I will do the best I can...that is all we can do right?
Triathletes down time is from now until about January or so. It is the time when they typically get caught on training programs, reading, etc.
My goal is to contact trialthlon and running stores and websites to see if they will carry it. Hard as I don't have a physicial book ready and mom and pa shops probably won't be able to carry many at all. Right now, I am learning "how" they want to buy my book to sell.
I also need to contact podcasters and bloggers that are interested in running, biking, swimming and triathlons to see if they will do a book review.
Ultimately, the book will be used for future speaking engagments I will be doing some to let people know that we can all do extra ordinary things in life. It is meant to go hand in hand with our personal finance success story. I want people to know with a plan, having perserverance, and having faith, we call all do incredible things in life.
Really, I wanted this "first" book to be a learning process which it definitely has been. It has been a blast to do so far and like training, been fun to do around my kids. I want them to always know they can do incredible things in life and that God expects us to use our abilities/gifts he gave us. They are learning right long with us.
Have a great night Nathan.
Jen
oh you are kind...thanks Nathan. Here is a version of the cover - the subtitle was changed to:
The inspiring story of one ordinary mom's quest to use her God-given abilities to push her body, mind, and spirit beyond the limit
