How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I logged onto 48Days.NET as I was perusing the web one day after reading No More Mondays.

As part of this community, I hope to get inspiration and guidance/advice as I move forward and turn my business idea into a reality.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I am currently a product designer focusing on creating compelling and intuitive user experiences. I have been in the field of user experience creation for about 15 years in a variety of industries - medical, aerospace, automotive.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
My goal is to not work only for a paycheck. I am driven to contribute to society in a meaningful and personal way. In my vision, I work non-traditional hours (not 8-5 M-F), I have a positive and direct impact on people, and I have an effective work/life balance.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
To be an awesome role model for my kids.
To leave a smaller carbon footprint.
To sit on my porch after my retirement and say "I did the right things".
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I am a good "people-person".
I am perceptive and can pick up on unarticulated user (customer) needs/wants.
I am effective at creating 'experiences' for people that interact with products.
Do you have a website presence anywhere?

The Beauty of Being Chosen

Posted on July 30, 2014 at 8:10am 5 Comments

Perhaps it goes back to your elementary school days. You’re on the playground in a big group as two “captains” begin to pick players for their kickball teams. Kid after kid gets picked as the teams are formed. Sure enough, it comes down to two remaining players. With your heart pounding and not wanting to be the last player taken, you hear your friends name being called. You’re the last one left…the unchosen one.

My daughter plays fastpitch softball year-round for a club team.… Continue

My latest blog post from http://www.christiancompetitors.com/. Thought I'd post it here as well.

Dany Heatley, a left wing for the Minnesota Wild has been in the NHL for 11 years. He has been a bit of a journeyman, playing for 4 teams after making his NHL debut with the Atlanta Thrashers in 2001. In 2011, he joined the Minnesota Wild and had solid seasons - up until the 2013-2014 season. During the… Continue

A little determination can go a long way...

Determination – it’s kind of a funny concept. It’s around us all the time – from the person who drags their sleepy body out of bed at 5am to workout before going into the office to the person who works 3 jobs just to feed their family – but lots of times we don’t even notice it. When we do though, it is a thing of beauty.

I had the opportunity to be a coach for my daughter’s traveling softball team last summer. It was a fairly young travel team, so, in the beginning of the year they… Continue

Doubts in our "game"

Posted on April 18, 2014 at 9:43am 3 Comments

My son and I are starting a project called Christian Competitors. Christian Competitors is an organization for Christian athletes aimed at showing God's love through sports. Our goal is to encourage athletes to use their sport as a "platform" to glorify Him.

We are just in the initial stages and are just trying to gain some momentum in terms of a following. We've started a Twitter account (@competitor4Him) and have recently started a blog (… Continue
