How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I logged onto 48Days.NET as I was perusing the web one day after reading No More Mondays.

As part of this community, I hope to get inspiration and guidance/advice as I move forward and turn my business idea into a reality.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
I am currently a product designer focusing on creating compelling and intuitive user experiences. I have been in the field of user experience creation for about 15 years in a variety of industries - medical, aerospace, automotive.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
My goal is to not work only for a paycheck. I am driven to contribute to society in a meaningful and personal way. In my vision, I work non-traditional hours (not 8-5 M-F), I have a positive and direct impact on people, and I have an effective work/life balance.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
To be an awesome role model for my kids.
To leave a smaller carbon footprint.
To sit on my porch after my retirement and say "I did the right things".
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I am a good "people-person".
I am perceptive and can pick up on unarticulated user (customer) needs/wants.
I am effective at creating 'experiences' for people that interact with products.

"There's a need for small group to have someone to coach them, but I'm not sure how it would scale. You're sooooo right about the limitations of websites to communicate when someone isn't online. Being able to train an…"

"Christopher... Thanks a lot for the response.  Yes, the summer season is over, but, we are just ramping up into the fall season.  Seems that there is never an "off-season".  In any case, I had thought about setting up…"

Christopher Battles replied to Mike Good's discussion Social Presence Coaching for online organizations?
"I see you posted this months ago and the season is over, but I could see something.  The simplest would probably be a private Facebook page for each league.  This is free and would allow people to add to a service they are probably already…"

A little determination can go a long way...

I thought I’d write about determination. Determination is kind of a funny concept. It’s around us all the time – from the person who drags their sleepy body out of bed at 5am to workout before going into the office to the person who works 3 jobs just to feed his family – but lots of times we don’t even notice it. When we do though, it is a thing of beauty.

I had the opportunity to be a coach for my daughters traveling softball team this summer. It was a “10 and under” team, so, many… Continue

A Stranger's Impact

An interesting thing happened to me on a recent business trip. I was in Boston working with a client and after a long day I was just hanging out in my room flipping through the channels. I came across a movie called Taking Chance on HBO that caught my attention. It was about a Marine who was responsible for bringing the remains of a fellow soldier named Chance Phelps to his family in Montana. The journey of these two soldiers was nothing… Continue
