How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
Personal and career development is near and dear to my heart and I had been ignoring it for too long so last September I enrolled in a program to become a certified career practitioner. I graduated the program with honors in September 2012 and I look forward to sharing my own thoughts and ideas as we all explore the road to employment in whatever form it takes.

I heard about 48Days.net through Dan Miller's podcast and it's had a significant impact on my life and career. I've been a member since 2008.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
2011/2012 was an exciting year as I began my training to become a career development practitioner. I completed the program at the end of August 2012 and look forward to a new direction for the future. As part of the program I had been working as a volunteer in a career centre and also as a beta tester for a couple of new online career and personal development applications. The work search has not been going well but I'm hoping to either find full-time work in the field or becoming an independent career coach.

It was following a long period of unemployment that I embarked on this period of personal re-invention and I'm excited about the future. 48Days has played a major role in this new direction and I'm pleased to continue being involved in the future as 48Days continues to grow.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
My background is in communication arts, including photography, and audiovisual production and I've also concluded that I'm not done telling stories through images yet so I plan to continue doing some personal projects. I have an interest in personal/career development and personal branding and I hope to somehow blend the two.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
One day I hope to be self employed so I have more control and flexibility with my life and career. I understand there's a lot of work involved but I've also spent the better part of the past 10 years on the road so even if I'm very busy I'd still enjoy being closer to home base. My family has never had a vacation so that's a dream I hope to see fulfilled before my teenaged kids are too old to enjoy it or are no longer living at home. And we'd like to live debt free one day and drive a car that isn't a rust bucket. We're not there yet but hopefully one day.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I'm wired as someone who loves to learn, observe, and discover but not just for myself - I need to know it's helping others. I particularly like to help others discover their potential. I'm a writer at heart and recently learned I have an aptitude for teaching. On the DISC assessment I am a C/S. On the Myers Briggs I am an INTJ. ON the Strong Inventory I'm an IAC. On the StrengthsFinder: Intellection, Input, Developer, Learner.

If you have a product or service to promote (now or in the near future) this is your shot to state it! Say all you'd like:
I have an ImageKind webstore (http://nearscapes.imagekind.com/) where some of my photography can be viewed or purchased. I'm in the process of setting up a smugmug site.

Logo competition site?

I remember hearing Dan Miller talk about a website similar to eLance or Guru where a person could get a logo (or just about anything else) designed at a very reasonable price but instead of accepting a bid without seeing the work you actually get to select based on actual samples of work and only pay for the one you like. Does anyone know what site that was? Or am I mistaken? Of course there might also be someone in the 48days community who I could hire to do a logo.MichaelSee More

Hi Michael,

Hope all is well on your side.

I work with people all over the map.

I can have Jay send you an email and schedule a good time for us to talk through a few things. What is the best email address to give him?

While he's doing that, why don't you take a few minutes and fill out the pre-coaching questionnaire so we can make best use of our time?

All the best.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for adding me as your friend. What have been some of your favorite finds on the site?

There is a lot of helpful information here.

If you would like, I can have my operations mgr send you and email so he can carve out some time for us to talk about helping you find a direction that is in alignment with your gifts and talents.

The next issue of our newsletter is coming out in a few days. 4 Points Coaching is a weekly. May we start sending it your way?

Wrote you a lengthy comment in response to your discovery of my Video Profiles idea and my blogtalkradio show. Did you get it? May have pushed wrong button.

Michael,

Please forgive my delay in writing back to you.

What I Do is a fascinating program. Well-produced, but more than that the subject matter is dear to my heart, because I do believe God gives us a calling and asks us in a loving way to surrender to Him to find it.

Video Profiles offers a couple of services: first and foremost is taking my ability to write and produce moving feature stories about someone's life. It could be their personal , business, community life or ministry. They can also be used for video resumes, or something as simple as providing production services for a "welcome video" for your website. Here are a couple of links to my work.

I'm glad you found my Blog Talk Radio Show, Thought Life. You may have noticed the recent inactivity. I do plan to continue with the program in 2010. Thank you for listening and subscribing.

I am looking forward to hearing from you again. Get well soon.

Hello 48days friends,

It's been a long and challenging journey for me this past year as I've pursued my certification as a Career Development Practitioner and I am truly grateful for all the help and encouragement I have received from so many along the way. Many of the assignments I completed throughout the year required that I send out questions, surveys, requests for volunteer clients, and conduct interviews. Many of you responded to those requests and gave of…

Hello 48 Days friends. I haven't been in touch for a while but I'm still here. I hope everyone is enjoying the summer. It hasn't rained here in many weeks and the heat has been blistering. I'll have to remember these days when winter arrives. The employment situation has gone from bad to worse to downright dismal but our spirits are still high - hopefully not some sort of denial or mental illness. There's a couple of bright spots ahead but the last few turned out to be train wrecks so I'm… Continue
