- How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
- I found out about Dan Miller a few years ago while listening to Dave Ramsey's program and purchased "48 Days to the Work You Love". Since that time I've read "No More Dreaded Mondays" and have listened to the weekly podcasts. I hope to find more focus in my transition to a new career and welcome any suggestions. I've developed thick skin over the years so don't hold back.
- What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
- The last five-six years I've had an interesting employment situation to say the least. I work as a shift supervisor and banquet server at the convention center. Pretty much anywhere they need me. ( I joke with management that I'll even work landscaping when the busy season slows down in May/June). Additionally, I work as a tax preparer for H&R Block and occasionally tutor students in Statistics, Algebra, and Precalculus.
- And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
- This is the tough part because my aspirations change every few months. I enjoy the subjects I studied in college 10-15 years ago(Economics, Political Science) as well as helping customers save money. It may seem like a strange mix but I believe I would enjoy investigative work, such as a claims examiner or something along those lines. I enjoy problem solving as well as interviewing people.
- How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
- Finding a career that I enjoy is my focus. The last few years I've gone to the job boards but haven't had much success. Just a few interviews the last three years but none of the jobs were very interesting to me. They seemed like merely a means to pay bills. I have recent experience in film as an extra and twenty years ago in theatre. I enjoy reading, specifically books such as Dan Miller's and other personal development books as well as the supernatural.
- What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
- My strongest assets are my communication skills, both verbal and written. Some people have told me I have a very good speaking voice, both deep and concise in my delivery. I have a flexible approach towards work and do not mind unpredictability in both the days and the hours. Solving mathematical problems quickly is fairly easy for me as well.
