Your place for community & resources to find or create work you love

We are so glad you're here and ready to take the next step! We created 48days.net as a place for community. For people to encourage each other and help each other in finding or creating work that is meaningful.

But frankly, we've outgrown it, so we're moving to provide you new resources.

48Days.net will be closing as it is today on November 30, 2017. Until then current members can click the button below to access groups and resources.

If you're new to 48days.net, connect here for a close up look at our thriving 48 Days Eagles Community and to get weekly free resources and motivation as you find and create work you love.

How did you hear about 48Days.NET, and what do you hope to get out of being a part of this community?
I listen to Dan Miller's blog almost daily on my dog walks. Hoping to find a unique niche for a home-based or eventual business. I am a homeschool mom, former wildlife tech for the USFS, bat biologist, outdoor enthusiast. I've been taking backpacking taking home school moms backpacking for 3 years. I want to get people outdoors, enjoy & value God's creation, and find inspiration to better themselves and encourage them to strive to better themselves, take risks, take on new challenges.
What is your current work situation? Employee, self-employed, generating any income on your own?
home school mom, paid science teacher & volunteer co-director for home school program, backpack trip leader to home school moms making a scant net income per trip.
And then...what is your goal/dream for your work life?
I want to have a business, or product, that I can do when my boys are older. I would prefer to work outdoors, like land management, wildlife monitoring/managment, resource conservation etc. I love & miss the mountains, but currently live very, very far from them. I'd rather work for myself, not the government again.
How about your personal life? Any specific goals or achievements or dreams you are pursuing (or want to pursue)?
I would like to live in the mountains again, that's where I feel most inspired and happy.
What would you say are your strongest talents? How are you 'wired' and what can you offer to the world (it's OK if you don't know yet, but knowing is key to pursuing your dreams!)?
I am a program leader, a teacher, I am generally enthusiastic. I am the friend that gets everyone else together for coffee, or overnight trips, etc. I am a planner & project oriented. I can be detail oriented. I like leading groups. I enjoy science, data collection and hands-on work, not a business office.

My husband is a real estate manager & trainer working for someone else, and is recently offering social networking classes to Title companies, and a real estate school. He is trying to build up his training career, in hopes we can live the life we want WHERE we want, this is definitely where his gifts are.

He has an ongoing relationship with the real estate school, he recuits there regularly, and was an instructor there for a couple of years, about 3 yrs ago. The owner, a… Continue

BatMam to ...what??!!

I was a wildlife biologist with the USFS, a bat biologist, bighorn sheep & bald eagle researcher. I loved my job. I was outdoors 60% of the time, using my intellect too. When I interviewed my future boss of 7yrs, Robin, the district biologist, she said she would rather be a high paid tech, than a policy enforcer. Now, 12 & 9 yr olds boys, currently homeschooling, I have some time to work on the next phase- read, study, become an expert. But in WHAT? Field work and working for the… Continue

Hobby or Business?

Posted on July 28, 2009 at 9:15am 0 Comments

Just wondering, anyone reading this post, and Kevin, do you earn a living doing this, or is it a hobby and a little cash on the side? Do you see income potential for any peripheral businesses, such as backpacking meals, or specific gear? I have just begun teaching beginning backpacking to a specific group of women and although I look forward to teaching and getting outdoors, it takes me away from my family on weekends a lot. A few times a season is fine, I can do that, but its not much of an… Continue

Thanks, Lisa. Great to hear you're enjoying the show! Many more great ones on the way.

We're settling in here and I'm nearly done building out my studio. Can't wait to start doing live shows again.

Let me know if I can help.

Lisa,
Thanks for the advice and comments. I would like to discuss further your business. I think you have your business set up like I would like to do. I am very interested in speaking further with you about this. I think you could help me to get started and any advice you can provide such as trip lengths, liabilites, pricing, etc... would be so greatly appreciated. Please email me back at Briechert@yahoo.com.

Thanks,
Ben

Hi Lisa

Welcome to 48days.net. I want to welcome you to the neighborhood.

I want to extend an invitation to you to join the group I host called "Plan Your Startup | Startup Your Plan" where we are discussing planning for starting a business, as well as actually putting those plans into action!

You can view the video called "Calculate your Freedom Date" where we show you the six (6) key financial factors to consider as you make the transition to self-employment.

Let me know if you have any questions about 48days

Lisa, WELCOME to 48Days.net! I’m excited you’ve become a member.

This is a great place to learn about opportunities and then put your plans in action. It sounds like you need to move to a more inspiring place in the mountains. What parts of the country do you connect well with? I love CO and I'll be back there in a few months.

You might consider joining the Leap group. There are some great discussions going on that will likely be very profitable for you.

Again, glad to have you here at 48Days.net.

May you always work with passion,
